It's Funday Functional Friday and a long weekend is upon us. If you are out of power due to the storms, traveling somewhere in the car, or just needing a good read; here it is. BLOOD OF ANGELS.

Something ancient has come down from the mountain.

Late 21st century. Snowmass, Colorado. Dr. Erik War runs his medical practice at the base of one of the most celebrated ski resorts in the world — until the day genetically engineered saber-toothed tigers emerge from the mountain and tear his world apart.

Evacuated, arrested, and forced to detox, Erik follows his brother's impossible theory across the Atlantic — to a frozen Swedish village where something ancient is hiding, and a woman who is not what she seems.

What he discovers will change him forever. What comes back to Snowmass with him is something the tigers — and their creator — were never prepared for.

A relentless sci-fi fantasy thriller about ancient bloodlines, engineered predators, and one physician who refuses to stop.

We have added a new Alzheimer’s & Dementia Prevention Assessment to our website.

The assessment was inspired in part by the 2024 Lancet Commission report, which identified 14 potentially modifiable risk factors associated with dementia. The goal is simple: identify areas that may be worth addressing now, before problems develop later.

The questionnaire takes about 3 minutes and looks at factors such as hearing, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, exercise, smoking, social connection, head injury, vision and other important brain-health considerations.

Take the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Risk Assessment:
https://askdrt.weebly.com/alzheimers-dementia-risk-assessment.html

After completing the questionnaire, you can choose from three levels of blood testing:

Blood Panel 1: evaluates modifiable metabolic, inflammatory, nutritional and cardiovascular risk factors.

Blood Panel 2: includes Panel 1 plus APOE genetic testing.

Blood Panel 3: includes Panel 2 plus advanced Alzheimer’s biomarkers, including p-tau217 and amyloid beta 42/40.

I have also expanded our Dr. T Health Blueprints, which provide physician-designed laboratory testing with physician review and written recommendations.

View all Health Blueprints:

The goal is not simply to order more tests. It is to order the right tests, interpret them together, and identify what may actually be worth changing.

The Right Labs. Not Just More Labs.

It's Funday Functional Friday ~ do you know the benefits of laughter.....it's good medicine!

Laughing can reduce stress hormones like cortisol, boost immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, and trigger the release of endorphins that ease pain and improve mood.

Laughter is not just a source of joy; it also offers health benefits.
1. Laughter decreases levels of cortisol, a hormone associated with stress. Therefore, it assist with hormone regulation.
2. It boost the immune system helping to fight off illnesses.
3. It eases pain and increases heart rate and improves blood circulation, which can lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.
4. And who knew, it burns calories. A good laugh can burn calories, with estimates suggesting that laughing for 10-15 minutes can burn up to 40 calories.
5. And enhances mood. Laughter releases endorphins, promoting an overall sense of well-being and happiness.
6. It reduces anxiety and depression.
AND THE LIST GOES ON and ON. There are many benefits with laughter so take some time with friends, family and community and have a good laugh this weekend and enjoy the health benefits associated!

Yesterday, Dr. Topouzian released a video on Early Antigen testing. Here is some additional information that may be helpful to you.

EBV Early Antigen Ab IgG (EA IgG) is an antibody produced during active Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) replication. A positive result can mean an acute infection, reactivation of a past infection, or in some healthy people, a persistent antibody from an old infection. The typical normal range is less than 9 U/mL

EA IgG itself does not cause symptoms — it reflects how your immune system is responding. Any symptoms present reflect the underlying condition.

Symptoms of acute or reactivated EBV infection may include:

Fatigue ~ often the most prominent symptom; can be prolonged, lasting weeks to months

Fever ~ low to high grade, often with chills

Sore throat ~ can be severe, sometimes with white patches on the tonsils

Swollen lymph nodes ~ particularly in the neck, sometimes armpits or groin

Enlarged spleen or liver ~ contact sports should be avoided during acute infection due to spleen rupture risk

Body aches and headaches

If you are in question of the symptoms you may be having and feel it is EBV related, let us assist in your testing and health care journey.

As you may have noticed, we have started a video series for educational purposes. Yesterday, we shared a video about thyroid so I want to dive into what your thyroid does for your body.

Your thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of your neck under your skin. It’s a part of your endocrine system and controls many of your body’s important functions by producing and releasing (secreting) certain hormones. Your thyroid’s main job is to control the speed of your metabolism (metabolic rate), which is the process of how your body transforms the food you consume into energy. All of the cells in your body need energy to function.

As an endocrine gland, your thyroid makes and secretes hormones. Your thyroid produces and releases the following hormones:

Thyroxine (T4): This is the primary hormone your thyroid makes and releases. Although your thyroid makes the most of this hormone, it doesn’t have much of an effect on your metabolism. Once your thyroid releases T4 into your bloodstream, it can convert to T3 through a process called deiodination.

Triiodothyronine (T3): Your thyroid produces lesser amounts of T3 than T4, but it has a much greater effect on your metabolism than T4.

Reverse triiodothyronine (RT3): Your thyroid makes very small amounts of RT3, which reverses the effects of T3.

Your thyroid hormones affect the following bodily functions:

How your body uses energy (metabolism).
Heart rate.
Breathing.
Digestion.
Body temperature.
Brain development.
Mental activity.
Skin and bone maintenance.

When your thyroid isn’t working properly, it can impact your entire body.

We are here to help with your thyroid issues. Consultations and testing is available.
