DID YOU KNOW?

A horse’s heart beats much slower than ours. ❤️

At rest, a horse’s heart rate is typically around 28–44 beats per minute, while an adult human’s resting heart rate is usually 60–100 beats per minute.

But here’s where it gets interesting…

Horses are incredibly sensitive to changes around them—including movement, breathing, body tension, and emotional energy. When we intentionally slow our breathing and soften our bodies, we’re communicating something a horse understands very well:

“I’m safe. You can soften, too.”

That’s one reason we practice slowing down at IHHH. Connection doesn’t begin with words. It can begin with a breath. 🌿🐴

✨ Our 2nd Women’s Mini Retreat was one for the heart. ✨

What a beautiful evening of wonderful women, meaningful moments, laughter, connection, and a little bit of farm magic. 💚🐴

We welcomed everyone to the farm and began with a simple reminder of how powerful our words can be. Through a “Leading with Encouraging Words” craft, we created something meaningful to carry with us throughout the evening.

Then came yoga… or should we say KITTY YOGA! 🐈😂
Apparently, the cats decided they were invited too—and they were more than happy to join in, cuddle, and love on everyone.

From there, we headed to the arena with the horses. Each woman chose encouraging words and clipped them into a horse’s mane, then had the opportunity to lead her horse forward with those words. What a beautiful picture of where we are headed—learning to lead with encouragement, intention, trust, and the words we choose for ourselves and others. 🐴💫

We slowed down over a beautiful meal filled with heartfelt conversation, laughter, and connection. Around the table, we talked about our IHHH mentor ,Sue Spence, and the wisdom and encouragement she has shared with us along the way. We also reflected on the different horse personalities we’ve come to know and love—Yogi, Sunny, Mindy, and Larry—and how each of us found ourselves connecting with a particular horse in our own way.

Everyone received an inspiring journal/coloring book and pocket cards to take those encouraging words with them long after the evening ended. 💕📖

Then we moved outside for a deeply relaxing sound bowl experience with Jasmine nearby, letting the peaceful energy of the evening—and the presence of a horse—help us simply breathe, be still, and soak it all in. 🐴🔔

And of course… no evening at the farm would be complete without dessert and a campfire. 🔥🍰

Our second retreat reminded us that sometimes the most powerful moments aren’t the loud ones. They’re the quiet conversations, the encouraging words, the gentle nuzzles, the laughter, the deep breaths, and the feeling that you belong exactly where you are.

To every woman who joined us—thank you for bringing your heart to the farm. ❤️

Until next time… keep leading with encouragement, keep choosing your words carefully, and keep a little room in your heart for some farm magic. 🐴✨

Wonderful women. Wonderful time. Wonderful memories.
Welcome to the farm. 🌿💚

🚨 **IMPORTANT TRAVEL UPDATE FOR TONIGHT’S WOMEN’S RETREAT** 🐴💚

For everyone joining us at **Indiana Horses Helping Humans tonight**, we want to make sure you’re aware of a current road closure before heading our way.

Indiana State Police is investigating a **double-fatality accident on I-69 near mile marker 93 in Greene County. Both northbound and southbound lanes are currently closed.**

📍 **IHHH is located near Exit 98.**

➡️ **Coming from Bloomington/the north:** Exit I-69 at **Exit 104** and follow your navigation to IHHH.

➡️ **Coming from the Evansville area/the south:** Exit at **Exit 87 near Crane** and follow your navigation to IHHH.

The interstate may be completely reopened by the time everyone is traveling this evening, but we don’t want to assume that and have anyone get caught in traffic.

**Please allow yourself a little extra travel time and check your navigation before leaving.**

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone tonight. Please travel safely! 🐴💚🌿

🐴💕 Mindy Friday: We All Start Somewhere

When we first began IHHH and started our training… let’s just say we had a few learning moments. 😂

Some were beautiful.
Some were inspiring.
And some were… well… bloopers. 🤦‍♀️🐴

But that’s the beautiful thing about working with horses—they give you immediate, honest feedback. If your communication isn’t quite clear, they’ll let you know! 😂

We’ve learned that growth doesn’t mean getting it right every time. It means being willing to laugh, reset, adjust your energy, and try again.

And looking back at where we started makes us appreciate just how far both we AND our horses have come. ❤️

✨ Mindy reminder: Give yourself grace for the awkward beginnings. Sometimes the bloopers are where the best learning happens.

🌿 One spot left for this Saturday! 🐴💚

Hi friends! I wanted to share this because we have just ONE ticket remaining for our women’s retreat this Saturday at Indiana Horses Helping Humans.

It’s a small, peaceful retreat here with the horses — a chance to get away from the noise for a few hours, slow down, reconnect, and enjoy some genuinely meaningful time with other women.

No horse experience is needed, and there is no riding. Everything is done safely from the ground, and our horses have a pretty amazing way of helping us notice things about ourselves that we sometimes miss in the busyness of everyday life.

If you’re within a comfortable drive of Crane (we’re 5 miles down the road) and you’ve been thinking, “I could really use something like that,” this last spot might just have your name on it. 💚

🐴 This Saturday
🌿 Indiana Horses Helping Humans
🎟️ Only 1 spot remaining

You can grab the last ticket through our website:

A true country legend has gone home. 💕🎶

Thank you, Dolly, for a lifetime of music, laughter, kindness, faith, and reminding us to love a little bigger. Your songs will keep playing, your kindness will keep inspiring, and your light will shine for generations. 🕊️🐴✨

It’s okay to be startled. The question is… what do we do with the energy next?

While introducing Champ to a blue tarp, one unexpected movement caused him to jump and quickly move away.

And that’s okay.

His nervous system did exactly what it was designed to do:
Something changed → assess the threat → create safety.

But watch what happens next.

Champ doesn’t stay stuck in that moment. He creates distance, processes what happened, and then chooses to come back and investigate.

That is such a beautiful picture of emotional regulation.

Regulation doesn’t mean we never get scared, anxious, frustrated, or overwhelmed. It means learning how to move through that activation without letting it take over.

Sometimes we need to step away.
Sometimes we need to move our bodies.
Sometimes we need to breathe.
And when our nervous system settles, we can decide:

Am I safe? Can I come back and try again?

We don’t punish Champ for reacting or force him immediately back onto the tarp. We give him the opportunity to process, regulate, and make another choice.

And when he comes back?

That’s where confidence begins to grow. 💙

At IHHH, horses give us a beautiful way to see something we experience ourselves:

You don’t have to stop yourself from feeling the energy.
You can learn what to do with it.
