Blessed Autumn Equinox
Autumn is officially upon us, regardless of how the weather continues to vary. I am seated now at a window overlooking my backyard, feeling the cool breeze as it blows in through the poplar and oak leaves. We rearranged the house a few weeks ago, when Bryce asked whether it was time for me to have a more designated home work space again (my previous space was converted into Nova’s nursery). I’m settling in, reveling in the reset and the care which inspired it. May we all know this kind of love in our lives, and get the time to pause and feel it.
TL;DR: I’m writing today to share about booking availability, muse about local happenings, point out my web offerings, recommend colleagues, and share a bit about what I’ve been up to since my last official newsletter last year(?!).
AVAILABILITY
The appointment calendar is currently full into late October, but the waitlist is always open. You can add yourself to the waitlist via the booking portal (https://www.inmyhandslmt.com/s/appointments) , after choosing your preferred service and clicking “Next”. A button titled “Join the waitlist” will be under the calendar. This is the best way to see when cancellations and reschedules create space on my schedule, but you can also keep an eye on your inbox or catch a post to my Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/inmyhands.lmt) or Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/inmyhandsmassagebodywork) stories.
REFERRALS
My referral list for massage therapy (https://www.inmyhandslmt.com/s/stories/massage-referrals) has been updated for accuracy, and will likely have some additions before the end of the year. These recommendations are for those of you who cannot wait a month and a half to get on my calendar, or who are interested in exploring some variety - we all have something unique to offer! I have exchanged sessions with and worked alongside everyone on the list, so I can guarantee you’ll still be in good hands.
PACKAGES
Packages are more accessible than ever - you can now make a package purchase on your own via my web shop (https://www.inmyhandslmt.com/s/shop) . As long as you are logged in, the package will apply to your profile and can be used easily to check out at each visit. A reminder that packages are available in sets of 3, 6 or 9, provide a percentage of savings relative to the size of the package, are non-refundable, and transferable only on a case-by-case basis with prior communication. It is also my preference that we book your package appointments upon purchase, so if you’re buying a package of sessions which aren’t yet booked, please ensure your availability can fit into mine before you finalize the transaction.
SHOP LOCAL
Another way to access massage with me is at occasional events. This past weekend’s Witch Fest was my best yet, surely because I had my spouse Bryce there working the crowd for me while I performed chair massage. (If you’re new to this newsletter after meeting me at Witch Fest: welcome, thank you for coming by, and I hope you’re well hydrated). This success is inspiring me to register for more events, so keep an eye out for that. My next appearance will be at oak.’s Tarot Speakeasy (https://www.oak-bloomington.com/) in November. There you can have your choice of one or several other psychic readings while sitting among the plants and the vibes of my favorite magickal little plant shop. I wrote a piece about the last Speakeasy on my private blog (https://substack.com//p-213649284) , and even though I won’t be there, you should absolutely check out the next occurrence in October.
Also new in the web shop: did you know I make little treasures when these hands are not busy with bodywork? Did you know the watercolors featured in my waiting room (https://www.inmyhandslmt.com/s/stories/watercolors-by-biz-strother) (created by my friend Biz) are available as prints? These and a few herbal concoctions are available in the shop as well. Purchase online or in-office next time you’re in if you’re looking for something made by real, local humans!
IN MY HANDS//IN MY HEART
It really has been a year since I last sent a newsletter. I guess motherhood truly has swept me away, and while I find myself grieving the standard I once held as a business owner, massage therapist, teacher, friend, etc. I actually have no regret that that energy is being funneled to mother. Every week brings a little more balance, and a little more comfort with pruning away things that no longer matter in favor of growing what does. This work certainly still matters a great deal to me, and I am grateful to all of you for sticking around as my relationship to it changes.
In the last year, I have:
- Just melted over my sweetie pea darling dragon queen
- Become a library person again
- Played on new playgrounds
- Found my first few silver hairs
- Thrived through traveling with baby, including eight hours of flight (round trip)
- Thrown a baby birthday party
- Officiated three weddings
- Navigated scheduling daycare and babysitters
- Provided sports massage to the champion IU Football team
- Joined the YMCA (see you in Deep Splash or Barre!)
- Sublet office space to six other practitioners of healing arts, serving countless clients of their own
- Taught two full cohorts of massage therapy students
- Survived the most challenging massage I have ever given
- Watched my mother thrive as a grandmother
- Watched my spouse grow into being a father
- Started singing again
- Been surprised by my cat’s tolerance for baby shenanigans
- Turned 35
- Got bangs
- Continued breastfeeding through working two jobs
- Traded prenatal massage with the colleague who gave me prenatal massage! Thanks Kari 🥰
- And kept my practice afloat!
Thank you forever, for being here.
