Copper Tongue Scraping

If you tongue scrape, choose copper.

Copper is naturally antimicrobial—it helps reduce bacteria, not just move it around like stainless steel.

Overnight, your tongue builds up biofilm that can contribute to bad breath, imbalance, and inflammation.

Best time: first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking.

Simple habit. Real impact.

Save for your morning routine.

Understanding the Tooth–Body Connection 🦷✨

Each tooth is connected to the body in more than one way.

Through lymphatic pathways, the mouth plays a direct role in immune function and drainage.
When there is chronic infection or inflammation, that burden can spread locally and contribute to systemic stress.

At the same time, traditional systems like the tooth-organ meridian model describe patterns of connection between teeth and broader body systems.

While these meridian relationships are still being explored, what we do know is clear:

✔️ Oral infections can impact whole-body health
✔️ The lymphatic system plays a key role in drainage and detoxification
✔️ The mouth is not separate from the body

In biological dentistry, we consider both the physical pathways and the functional relationships — because true healing requires looking at the whole picture.

Representing our practice beyond dentistry — through service, community, and connection.

Last year, Dr. Porcelli stepped onto the dance floor for Dancing with the Local Stars in support of Kiwanis… with one condition — that Alina would say yes the following year.

This year, she did.

Giving back is important to us in so many ways, and it was an honor to participate in such a meaningful event supporting our local community.

Dancing alongside national ballroom dancer Sandro Virág of Hilton Head Island Ballroom made the evening even more special.

Grateful for the elegant dress handmade by Radim ✨

Things a biological dentist thinks about while brushing…

• The oral microbiome
• Gum inflammation
• Nose vs. mouth breathing
• Mineral balance in saliva
• What’s really in toothpaste

Because the mouth isn’t separate from the body.

Your mouth is part of your whole-body biology.

Clenching your teeth at night?

A night guard protects the teeth, but it may not address the real cause.

For many patients, nighttime clenching is linked to airway and sleep quality.

When breathing becomes restricted during sleep, the body may subconsciously activate the jaw muscles to open the airway and keep breathing. This can trigger clenching or grinding.

Sometimes the most important step isn’t another guard —
it’s a sleep study.

A sleep study can help identify issues like sleep apnea or airway resistance, allowing treatment to address the root cause rather than just the symptoms.

Optimal Oral Hygiene — The Order Matters.

Most people are doing this in the wrong sequence.

Here’s the correct order:

1• Floss first
Wrap the floss into a C-shape around each tooth. This loosens plaque and bacteria that accumulate from food and biofilm.

2• Brush second
Use a biologically appropriate toothpaste (hydroxyapatite, mineral-supporting formulas). Hold the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gumline.

3• Waterpik last
Angle it perpendicular to the teeth — not into the gums — and flush between them. Think of it as rinsing away what you’ve already disrupted.

Little secret:
I’ve never had a cavity.

Consistency + proper technique makes the difference.

Your mouth is not separate from your body. Treat it accordingly.

I used to just look at teeth.

Now I look at the whole person.

Your mouth is part of your body — not separate from it.
So when we talk about dental care, we also think about your overall health.

It’s not about big promises.
It’s about being thoughtful and careful with every step.

Simple. Connected. Personalized.

✨ Michelle’s Story | From Survival to Life Restored ✨

“In 2017, my health began to fall apart.”

Michelle lost strength, mobility, and independence.
Doctor after doctor—no answers.
There was a moment she truly thought she was going to die.

Then someone asked a question no one else had:

“Have you had any dental work done recently?”

She had.
An amalgam filling—placed shortly before everything changed.

That question changed everything.

Not because dentistry is everything—
but because the mouth is never separate from the body.
Just as God designed it.

The filling was carefully removed.
No promises. Just thoughtful, biological care.

The next day, she got her voice back.
Within days, she was riding a bike.

“I am so grateful to God.
I trust them 100%.”

This isn’t about fear.
It’s about listening.
It’s about honoring the body instead of silencing its signals.

🎥 Watch Michelle share her journey in her own words.

🤍 Healing is possible when we respect how deeply connected the body truly is.
