is not only walking the talk of "we care about our community," they added a second machine to their staff room because they care about their team members. She was super excited to see the delivery of the vending machine and exclaimed, “Oh, yes, I get to have my cokes!” When I responded, “While my machines have some ‘not so healthy’ product, I definitely do not carry soda pop,” her shoulders slumped, her head dropped, and she walked away.

While I can not say all items in Healthy Treats 4U vending machines are 100% “clean and pure,” I steer clear of some egregious “health violators.”

The challenge with owning “healthy” vending machines is health is so much more than “this ingredient” or “that additive” or “this other percentage of something.”

While we know 75-85% of health is based on what one puts into their body, one must educate themselves even when purchasing from a “healthy” vending machine.

Healthy Treats 4U looks forward to the day when clients ask for only truly healthy snacks and drinks. Until then, concessions will be made….within reason. 😊 To Your Health!

PS - Try to cut out one truly unhealthy food/drink choice. Start with just one.

When asked, “How healthy are the treats in your machine?” I can not say 100% “clean and pure.”

Even if the sugar content is low, the fat content may be too high or there is a questionable ingredient. Healthy Treats 4U focuses on additives but, alas, clients want what they want.

The challenge with owning “healthy” vending machines is health is so much more than “this ingredient” or “that additive” or “this other percentage of something.”

Unfortunately, stores are notorious for stocking out of date product. Now that I am in the business of food, it is paramount I check dates. The reality is most food will last anywhere from 3 to 6 months beyond the expiration date if stored correctly. What they tend to lose is their potency and flavor. It is not necessarily a health risk to eat/drink something beyond the expiration date. Regardless, check the dates!

PS - I am shopping in November and these dates are June and August. Not cool.

Absolutely dowload the Yuka app. As an owner of HEALTHY vending machines, knowing how "unhealthy" so many of the products actually rate is fascinating! My #1 criteria is to steer clear of harmful additives so this app is super helpful. Clients mostly buy what is "bad" so if I can transition folks to at least a "poor" choice, one day maybe I will get them to only what is "good" or even "excellent."

Curly was once our image of a "fat" man. Being overweight is NOT about aesthetics. It's about health. While there is such thing as "skinny fat," people who are unhealthy but also thin, if you are carrying excess weight, you have a health problem and you CAN fix it. It may not be easy or desirable because you will need to make changes but your lack of health is truly YOUR problem to fix.
