In just under a week we will be back in the drum circle, and something deeply relevant is being mirrored through the synchronistic timing of Halloween.
Right about now, many of us are planning our “costume,” getting into “character,” and it’s got me reflecting on the costumes and the characters we play...
We have a day dedicated to “being something/somebody else,” yet if we look closer, how often is it we mask in our daily lives?
The mask of the parent / brother / sister / partner
The mask of the boss / manager / employee
The mask of the healer / guide / coach
The mask of the appeaser
The mask of the performer
The mask of the chameleon
There is nothing intrinsically “wrong” with the masks we wear, sometimes the roll has to be played... rather, it’s becoming aware that we are wearing them in the first place.
Becoming aware of the spaces and places we morph to fit the room, edit our expression, and ultimately - abandon ourselves.
Which is why, this coming Sunday, we are inviting you to the Masquerade Drum Circle from 2-4 PM at the Center for Spiritual Living Boise.
The intention for this gathering is to somatically witness the masks we wear, as well as the raw, unedited Truth of Self “unmasked.”
We have ordered a bunch of Masquerade masks that come with your ticket purchases when you purchase online, or bring your own (totally optional), that will be our physical and symbolic guide for our drum circle experience.
Directly following the circle (4 - 5 PM), stick around for the potluck/share circle to collectively process what was discovered. So, feel free to bring a dish to share.
We have plenty of instruments, available to all ages and skill levels, and welcome you exactly as you are.
