Yesterday, I had the opportunity to step into a room full of over 100 professionals and talk about something I care deeply about:
Burnout, resilience, and what it actually takes to recover.
My presentation, Space: The Final Frontier… Or Is It?, explored the space we create between work and home, stimulus and response, pressure and recovery.
I talked about what I’ve learned through my work with high performing entrepreneurs, my background in business strategy, and my own journey toward understanding the relationship between the body, breath, nervous system, and sustainable performance.
One of the central ideas I shared was simple:
People don’t always need more tools, more productivity, or more capacity. Sometimes they need more space to be.
We practiced breathwork. We explored what we carry home from work. We created a personal re entry ritual. And we looked at resilience as something we can build into our everyday lives rather than something we wait to develop after burnout has already happened.
This work sits at the intersection of my three areas of experience:
Business strategy
Harvard Business School Online certifications in Business Strategy, Disruptive Strategy, and Power & Influence for Positive Impact.
Burnout recovery and resilience
Helping high performing people recognize patterns of depletion and develop sustainable practices for recovery.
Embodied and shamanic practice
Using breath, body awareness, relationship with the natural world, and intentional transition practices to help people reconnect with themselves.
I’m increasingly interested in bringing this work into leadership teams, organizations, government agencies, conferences, and workplaces that want to address burnout before it becomes a bigger organizational problem.
If your organization is looking for a speaker or facilitator for a burnout prevention, resilience, stress management, or sustainable leadership workshop, I’d love to have a conversation.
The goal isn’t to teach people how to carry more.
It’s to help them build lives and workplaces where they don’t have to.
