Please join us in giving a warm Idaho Health Care Association welcome to Lindsay Likes, our new Director of Legislative Affairs! Lindsay brings nearly five years of experience in Home Health, Hospice, and Home Care, along with a deep understanding of the issues that matter most to our members. Many of you already know Lindsay from her active involvement in our Legislative Lunch over the past four years, where she has consistently demonstrated her passion for advocacy and strengthening Idaho’s long-term care community. With a Master of Health Administration (MHA) and a commitment to making a meaningful impact, Lindsay is excited to work alongside our lobbyist, Luke Malek, to advance policies that support our members and the individuals they serve across Idaho. In addition to leading our legislative efforts, Lindsay will partner with Dana and our team to strengthen relationships, foster collaboration, and enhance member engagement throughout the state. Recently, our Executive Director, Robert Vande Merwe, had the opportunity to visit Weiser Care of Cascadia alongside their team, H&W staff, and CMS RHTP staff. It was a wonderful visit, and we enjoyed learning more about the incredible work being done to support residents and families in the Weiser community. Some gave years of service. Some gave a lifetime. And some gave everything. This Memorial Day, the Idaho Health Care honors the brave men and women who never came home, the heroes whose sacrifice shaped the freedoms we live with every day. In long-term care communities across Idaho, we are privileged to care for veterans, military spouses, and families who carry stories of courage, loss, duty, and love. Their experiences remind us that Memorial Day is not simply a holiday, it is a sacred moment of remembrance for lives laid down in service to others.

Today, we honor the empty seats at family tables, the folded flags held close to hearts, and the generations forever changed by sacrifice. May we never lose sight of the cost of freedom, and may we always remember those who paid it. With gratitude and reverence, we remember.

Election Day is Tuesday, May 19. Most districts have a primary election, and in many areas, the primary will determine which candidate ultimately serves that district. That’s why it’s so important to show up and vote. We’re working toward more common-sense regulations and, most importantly, fairer Medicaid rates. We are fighting to reverse the 4% blanket cut, and that won’t happen if the wrong people are elected into office.

Please make a plan to vote on Tuesday, and encourage your friends, family, and coworkers to do the same. Our healthcare system depends on engaged voters like you.
