At the Idaho Health Care Association, we value every opportunity to connect with our members and see firsthand the important work happening in senior living communities across our state. Our team had a great visit at Touchmark at Meadow Lake Village, where we had the opportunity to spend time with members of their leadership team and learn more about their community. Touchmark at Meadow Lake Village is an inclusive senior living community offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care, providing residents with options and support to meet their needs through different stages of life.

We are grateful for the dedicated leaders and teams who work every day to serve Idaho’s seniors and their families. IHCA is proud to stand alongside providers like Touchmark as we work to support, connect, and advocate for long-term care across Idaho. Thank you to the Touchmark team for welcoming us. One of our favorite parts of what we do at the Idaho Health Care Association is getting out into our communities and spending time with the incredible members we serve! Our team had a wonderful visit with Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living, where we had the opportunity to connect with Executive Director Caroline Young and Business Office Manager Edith. Caroline brings more than 20 years of experience in senior living and has done an incredible job updating and transforming Parkwood Meadows into a beautiful, welcoming place for residents to call home. Her experience, leadership, and dedication are truly an asset to the community.

Working alongside Caroline, Edith helps ensure residents and families receive the attention, care, and support they deserve. Together, they are creating a community where residents can feel valued, comfortable, and at home.

Thank you, Caroline, Edith, and the entire Parkwood Meadows team for welcoming us! We love getting to know our members, seeing the great work happening in their communities, and celebrating the people who make long-term care in Idaho so special. The Idaho Health Care Association team, Lindsay Likes, recently had the opportunity to attend a fundraiser for Mike Pohanka in Jerome, alongside Julie, Administrator of Desano Place Assisted Living.

We appreciated the opportunity to have a meaningful conversation with Mike about long-term care in Idaho’s rural communities, including the unique challenges providers face and the importance of ensuring seniors across our state have access to quality care and services. It is always valuable to connect with leaders who take the time to listen, learn, and understand the needs of Idaho’s seniors and the dedicated professionals who care for them. We enjoyed getting to know Mike and his wife and appreciate their commitment to the people and communities that make Idaho such a special place to call home. Thank you for the conversation and for recognizing the importance of supporting long-term care throughout Idaho!

The Idaho Health Care Association members are grateful for the opportunity to connect with Idaho’s leaders and share the important work happening in long-term care across our state! A few Ensign administrators recently welcomed Idaho State Representative Ben Fuhriman of District 30 for a facility tour. Visits like these provide a valuable firsthand look at the care, dedication, and commitment our long-term care professionals provide to Idahoans every day. Thank you, Representative Fuhriman, for taking the time to visit, listen, and learn more about our industry. We appreciate all you do to advocate for long-term care in Idaho!

It was wonderful seeing so many of you at our Idaho Health Care Association convention in Nampa! A huge thank you to our sponsors, everyone who attended, and all of you who make a difference in the lives of Idahoans every day. And congratulations to our prize winners!

📣 Big news is coming! We’re currently waiting for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to release rural health grant opportunities, which we expect to hear more about soon. These grants could provide an opportunity for eligible rural providers to secure funding to make important improvements to their facilities, and IHCA is here to help.

At our convention, we held a class specifically on how to apply for these grants so providers can be prepared when the opportunity opens. We’ll share information with our members as soon as the grant details are released.

IHCA is also preparing to pursue funding for an innovative initiative using smart watches to monitor key biometrics and help identify when residents may need immediate attention. The goal is to reduce rehospitalizations, 911 calls, and unnecessary emergency room visits while improving care. This effort could also play an important role in our continued Medicaid advocacy. We’ve spoken with the Governor’s office, legislators, and the Department about the 4% Medicaid rate reduction that has been in place for nearly a year. We asked: If providers can demonstrate savings to Medicaid of 4%, can that 4% reduction be restored? The response has been positive, but we have to prove the savings.

That’s where this initiative comes in. We have a technology partner that will help us measure and document the Medicaid savings generated by the program, giving us the data we need to demonstrate its impact.

When the grant opportunity is officially announced, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, we need rural facilities, home care providers, and home health agencies to participate. You can sign a letter of interest now to show your willingness to be part of this effort.

We need your help. Together, we can work to save Medicaid dollars, improve outcomes for the people we serve, and make the case for restoring that 4%.

Thank you for helping us help you! Learn more at idhca.org
