Why am I SO angry all the time?
If you’re in your late 30s, 40s or early 50s and suddenly feel more
irritable, reactive, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself, perimenopause
may be part of the picture.
Perimenopause rage and anger can be connected to fluctuating estrogen and progesterone, changes in brain chemistry, disrupted sleep, stress and the already-heavy mental load many women carry during midlife.
You may notice:
• Anger that feels sudden or out of proportion
• A much shorter fuse than you used to have
• Feeling constantly “on edge”
• Mood changes around your menstrual cycle
• Snapping at people you love, followed by guilt
• Anxiety, overwhelm, or difficulty sleeping
And while people often call it “perimenopause rage,” there can be
overlap between perimenopause, PMDD, anxiety, depression, sleep
disruption, and other hormone-related mood changes, which is why
understanding the full picture matters.
Our latest blog breaks down why perimenopause can cause anger, what perimenopause rage feels like, and treatment options that may help you feel more like yourself again.
