Struggling with stool accidents or constipation? You’re not alone - and help is available.

The Colorectal & Pelvic Malformation Center’s Bowel Management Program is a personalized, one-week intensive program designed to help children with colorectal and pelvic conditions achieve clean days and greater confidence.

Through individualized bowel management plans, our team works closely with families to:
✅ Prevent stool accidents and constipation
✅ Use enemas or medications to empty the colon effectively
✅ Develop a routine tailored to each child’s needs
✅ Teach families how to manage bowel care successfully at home

Our goal is simple: help children stay clean, comfortable, and able to participate fully in school, sports, and everyday activities.

📅 Join us for Bowel Management Week this August and learn how specialized care can make a life-changing difference for children and families.

Sometimes the biggest victories don’t feel very big.

For families managing colorectal and bowel conditions, success can look like:

💙 A comfortable bowel movement
💙 Completing a bowel management routine
💙 Trying a new food
💙 Going to school with confidence
💙 Fewer accidents
💙 A child feeling proud of themselves

Every step forward matters.

At the B*H Colorectal and Pelvic Malformation Center, we celebrate the small wins alongside the big milestones because we know how much work, dedication, and perseverance goes into each one.

May is Digestive Diseases Awareness Month 💙

At the Boston Children’s Hospital Colorectal and Pelvic Malformation Center, we care for children with a wide range of colorectal, pelvic, and motility conditions - helping patients and families navigate everything from diagnosis to long-term bowel management and surgical care.

Digestive health impacts so much more than the GI tract. It affects nutrition, growth, comfort, confidence, school participation, and overall quality of life.

This month, we’re helping raise awareness about:
✨ Pediatric colorectal conditions
✨ Constipation and bowel dysfunction
✨ Hirschsprung disease
✨ Anorectal malformations
✨ Motility disorders
✨ The importance of multidisciplinary care and family support

To all of our patients, families, caregivers, and clinical teams - thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey. 💙
