12/31/2025
If I had to choose one word to describe this past year, I would say it was transitional. It stripped me of everything I knew. Parts of my identity, my comfort, my home, and at times my overall health and wellness. It forced me to let go of a lot all at once.
For the last 30 years I’ve had the tradition of writing in my journal on New Year's Eve and recounting the past year. But before I do this, I always read through the last year's journals entries so I can take in everything that happened. It’s one of my favorite things to do, but this year I was dreading revisiting all that 2025 presented. But, when I looked back over this past year, instead of recounting the challenges, what stood out the most was all of the times I was supported and loved. All the times my friends and family just showed up, again and again with big gestures, little gestures and everything in between.
So instead of ending this year with sadness, I am ending it with immense gratitude for all of the incredible people in my life.
Someone recently said 2025 felt like being awake during surgery and I couldn’t agree more. For anyone else that had an unusually challenging year- may your 2026 be a beautiful fresh start, and a new chapter full of peace, health, joy, purpose and strength.
Happy New Year!
