first meal not until 3:30 pm really speaks to mom life 😅 I never understood how moms could just go about their day without eating a meal for hoursssss but I learned quickly!!

I am always trying to prioritize real whole foods and protein throughout the days but it definitely can be hard! Especially when I want to make all my food, having a few minutes hands free is few and far between. I ate most of my meals sitting on the floor talking to baby girl today! Whatever works ☺️

tag a new mom you’re making these for 🍪🤍 let’s keep new moms well fed and nourished !!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Lactation Cookies
Wet ingredients
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 tablespoons of melted salted butter
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter (the more liquidy the best. sub almond butter or sunflower butter)
Pinch of sea salt

Dry ingredients
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 of coconut sugar (sub brown sugar not packed)
1/4 cup ground flaxmeal
1/4 cup brewers yeast
1 cup gluten free oats
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Method
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prep a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease with butter to prevent sticking.

In a large bowl, add eggs and lightly whisk.
Add wet ingredients and mix until well combined. It should be a thicker, creamy mixture. I used a silicone spatula to combine.

Add dry ingredients into the bowl with wet ingredient mixture. Mix until well combined.

Using a dough scooper or tablespoon, scoop down into 1 inch balls. Place about 2 inches a part on baking tray. Smoosh balls down a bit, about 1/2 inches thick and flat on top.

Bake for 10-12 minutes.

Enjoy!

and thats my why 🤍 8 years since my diagnosis. 8 years of healing and proving that all these little things make a big difference.

When I was deep in the throes of my chronic illness, I was worried that all of this would affect my fertility. Would my cycle ever return? Would I ever feel healthy enough to have a baby? Would I even be able to get pregnant after years of illness? I’ve always wanted to be a mother but my health scared me.

I healed my body for me and for her. Now that’s she’s here healthy as ever, I’m so grateful for all that I did to get here.

My Lyme diagnosis seemed like the end but it was actually the beginning.

protein 🤝 postpartum

At 11 weeks postpartum my body is still healing. It took 9 months to grow this beautiful baby, it’s important to remember it takes months to heal too ☺️ protein is a big part of helping the body heal and recover. But it’s sooo hard to get enough in when you have a baby in your arms 24/7. This recipe is pretty quick if you have 15 min to prep it. Then you can eat it 3-4x throughout the week.

These Mediterranean protein wraps are packed with protein, fiber and nutrient dense. Perfect for the postpartum mom
Ingredients
wraps of choice
Protein of choice (I did organic sliced turkey, shredded chicken would work well)
1 can chickpeas drained, rinsed and dried
2 tablespoons capers
1 cup chopped cucumber
1/2 cup chopped tomato
2 cups chopped spinach
1/4 cup or more chopped red onion
1/3 cup or more chopped feta
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Juice of one lemon
Olive oil drizzle
Salt and pepper

Method:
Make the chickpea chopped Mediterranean salad. Chop all your produce. Drain rinse and dry chickpeas. Throw capers, chickpeas and all produce into a big bowl. Add lemon juice, olive oil salt and pepper. Mix throughly.

Add turkey and Mediterranean salad into a wrap. Roll up and enjoy!

the milk stains on my sweatshirt say it all 🍼🐮 I was overwhelmed by the thought of pumping AND learning to breastfeed my daughter all at the same time. I waited 6 weeks to introduce any real pumping methods. At 6 weeks, milk supply has regulated so there’s less potential for creating oversupply.

I was still intimidated by my spectra electric pump when I decided to start a little freezer stash so I used my milk collectors and manual pumps instead for a few weeks.

What I used:
Boon trove milk collector
Haakaa USA ladybug & pump
Medela USA manual pump
