Last but certainly not least, introducing Katherine Zhu, who grew up in Atlanta, GA. She attended to Georgia Tech for undergrad, and then Johns Hopkins for medical school. Her clinical interests include microsurgery, craniofacial, aesthetics, 3D printing, and medical devices. Her hobbies include running, traveling, hiking, baking, and trying new ice cream flavors🍦

Next up: introducing Goutam Gadiraju, who grew up in Shelby, NC. He went to UNC Chapel Hill for undergrad, then Harvard for medical school. Clinically, he is interested in microsurgery, clinical outcomes, healthcare delivery, and medical device innovation. When not holding the plastics consult pager, you can find him enjoying live music, vinyl collecting, running, and snowboarding.

Next up we have Anna Vaeth, who grew up in Wi******er, MA. She went on to undergrad at UConn, then Cornell for medical school. She’s currently interested in peripheral nerve surgery, hand/micro surgery, and medical education. In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, running, reading, cooking, and spending time with her adorable dog, Minnie! 🐶

Introducing our new star interns that have survived their very first month!

Starting off with Allen Green, who is originally from North Woodmere, NY. He then went on to Brown for college and Stanford for medical school. His current clinical interests include peripheral nerve, hand surgery, trauma recon, and nerve regeneration. In his free time, you can find him playing rugby, hiking, or expertly navigating an escape room.

As the academic year wraps up, we would like to congratulate our graduating chief residents! We had a wonderful time this past weekend celebrating the accomplishments of this amazing class. Highlights include:

✨Congratulations to our final graduating Chief Resident, Charles Hwang, MD! 🎓

Charles comes to us from Northwestern University and the University of Michigan School of Medicine — Go Blue! — where his early clinical experiences with stroke and peripheral nerve injury patients ignited a passion for expanding what surgery can offer.

During his time here, Charles built a reputation as a thoughtful peripheral nerve surgeon with a growing interest in the science behind what he operates on. Chief year highlights include inspiring cases from leaders in facial and extremity palsy as well as headache surgery, a thriving MGH chief resident clinic, and the launch of a peripheral nerve research program at Craniofacial Program .

What he’ll miss most? The residents and faculty who made this program feel like home — and who helped shape a surgeon-scientist in the truest sense.

Charles heads next to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as the Peripheral Nerve Surgeon-Scientist Research Fellow at the Center for Craniofacial Innovation, where he’ll continue building an integrated academic and clinical program advancing peripheral nerve care for patients of all ages.

We are incredibly proud of everything you’ve built here, Charles — and excited to watch what comes next. 🧠🔬

Congratulations to Graduating Chief Resident, Ian McCulloch, MD!!

Ian grew up in the small town of Beckley, West Virginia. He completed his undergraduate degree at West Virginia University and a masters degree at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland before returning to WVU for medical school. He came to Harvard for six years of integrated plastic surgery training acquiring a particular interest in modern and comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

During his time as chief he was always eager to perform complex aesthetic and reconstructive cases and his love for operating was ever present.

Next, Ian will be moving to Manhattan to begin a private practice with the New York Plastic Surgical Group. We will miss him in Boston but are so excited for your next chapter!

✨ Meet graduating chief resident Tina Moon, MD ✨

Tina graduated from Vanderbilt University and received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed general surgery residency at Tufts prior to joining our program.

During her time here, Tina developed a particular passion for reconstructive microsurgery. Highlights of her chief year include the opportunity to grow in the MGH chief resident clinic as well as the chance to travel to Tanzania with SHARE and Reconstructing Women International.

What she will miss most about this program are her incredible co-residents and inspiring faculty who, over the years, have all become like family.

Next, Tina will be completing a microsurgery fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering where she hopes to continue building the foundation for a career centered around cancer care.

Congratulations Tina, we are so proud of you and best of luck at MSK! ✨

Meet graduating chief resident Ricardo “Ricky” Amador, MD 🎓

Originally from San Ramon, California, Ricardo attended UC Irvine and worked at Johns Hopkins before earning his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He then completed six years of plastic surgery training across the Mass General Brigham system, developing a particular passion for aesthetic surgery—especially rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation.

A highlight of Ricardo’s chief year was the opportunity to take on increasingly complex cases, learn from exceptional mentors, and guide patients through deeply personal surgical journeys. He is especially grateful for the co-residents, fellows, attendings, nurses, PAs, OR teams, and staff who made the long days meaningful and the most challenging cases memorable.

After graduation, Ricardo will return home to Southern California, where he will join a private practice and continue building a career centered on thoughtful, individualized aesthetic plastic surgery.

✨ Chief Resident Spotlight: Henry Miller, MD ✨

📍 Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
🎓 College: Tufts University
🩺 Medical School: Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University
🥼General Surgery Training: Cooper University Hospital

One of the highlights of residency was serving as Chief Resident at the MGH Chief Clinic, where he enjoyed a high level of autonomy, outstanding surgical cases, and the opportunity to grow into the role of a junior attending.

What he will miss most is being surrounded by such kind, talented, passionate, and inspiring co-residents and faculty members. He will also miss walks and runs along the Charles River.

Next, Henry will return to his hometown of Philadelphia to pursue his passion for complex reconstruction through a Microsurgery Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.

Congratulations, Henry, and best of luck in this exciting next chapter! 🎉
