Earlier today, the North End Senior Programming Coalition hosted a Senior Social at the Prado, bringing together North End seniors to connect with one another and learn about the many events, organizations, and resources available throughout our community.

A special thank you to all of the volunteers and participating organizations who helped make this event possible, and of course to State Representative Aaron Michlewitz for generously providing lunch.

It was a wonderful day, and it was great to see so many members of our community come together in support of our seniors.

NEW Health is now accepting applications for The Elaine Wilson Scholarship for Community Health Outreach & Public Service. Established in 2023, the Elaine Wilson Scholarship for Community Health Outreach and Public Service was named in honor of NEW Health’s founder and first Chief Executive Officer, Elaine Wilson who joined the health center movement in 1971 and opened one of the first Federally Qualified Health Centers in the country. Through her unwavering commitment and passion to provide much needed accessible and affordable healthcare services for the residents of the North End she opened the health center in 1972.

The Elaine Wilson Scholarship will award $2,500 to a resident of either the North End or Charlestown neighborhoods of Boston who is a matriculating student or applying to an institution of higher learning, (college or university) pursuing studies in healthcare, public health, or healthcare administration.

Last week, NEW Health hosted our 4th annual Viva Le Bocce tournament at Langone Park. The event was so much fun and we are honored to be the host of this community event. Thank you to everyone who made this possible including our sponsors, raffle donors, players, volunteers, and so many more. Together we raised nearly $45,000 for our health center to continue our mission in the North End and Charlestown communities. Earlier this week, NEW Health celebrated its 55th anniversary. In 1971, a group of North End residents recognized a critical need in the community and came together to create a health center that has now served generations of patients and families.

From our humble beginnings on the first floor of our North End location with a small team, NEW Health has grown to three locations and more than 170 staff members across multiple departments. We are incredibly proud to continue the legacy those founders began 55 years ago.

As we look to the future, we are excited to open our newly renovated second floor. Featuring state-of-the-art equipment and additional exam rooms, this expansion will help us meet the growing demand for primary care and pediatric services while continuing to provide the highest quality care.

We are honored to serve some of Boston's most vibrant neighborhoods and look forward to building on this legacy for generations to come. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone, and thank you to the communities that have supported NEW Health for the past 55 years.
