Ni**le flow for baby bottles is mostly marketing. Believe it or not, babies shouldn't need a change in ni**le flow once they hit a size 1. If your medical team suggests increasing the ni**le size, you may want to consider having your baby’s oral function evaluated by an OT who specializes in oral dysfunction in newborns/infants. Babies must set their own pace and do the work so they don't overfeed, which can cause an upset stomach, or take in too much air. If a baby seems to get frustrated with the flow of the ni**le, it can be a sign to look more deeply at how strong their jaw muscles are and how they are functioning mechanically when sucking.
