Give your brain a little break.
We spend so much time on our phones, computers, and screens every day. Constant stimulation and stress can leave us feeling tired, restless, and mentally drained.
Indian Head Massage (Shiro Abhyanga) is a beautiful way to slow down, relax the nervous system, and give yourself some much-needed quiet time.
Your brain and body are connected, and hormones like dopamine, serotonin, melatonin, and cortisol all play a role in how we feel, sleep, focus, and handle stress.
Try one session. I promise, you may feel the difference.

Colorado’s Dry Climate & Your Body

Living in Boulder means enjoying the beauty of the mountains, but the dry air, wind, and high altitude can leave your skin dry, joints stiff, and your nervous system feeling overworked.

One of Ayurveda’s most valued daily practices is Abhyanga—a warm oil massage using sesame oil, often blended with Mahanarayan Oil, a traditional Ayurvedic herbal oil that helps nourish the skin, muscles, and joints.

Regular Abhyanga may help:
• Deeply hydrate dry skin
• Support healthy joints and circulation
• Relax tired muscles
• Calm the nervous system and encourage better sleep

Sometimes the simplest rituals are the ones that help us feel our best.

Experience authentic Ayurvedic Abhyanga at Therapeutic Ayurveda Center in Boulder, Colorado.

Can Massage Help With Stress and Better Sleep?

Stress doesn’t only affect your mind—it often shows up in your body. Tight shoulders, a stiff neck, headaches, or difficulty relaxing are all common signs that your body may be carrying more tension than you realize.

Massage therapy gives your body time to slow down and recover. As muscles begin to relax, many people notice they feel calmer and more comfortable afterward. Some also find it easier to unwind at the end of the day and enjoy a better night’s sleep.

Here in Boulder, Colorado, many of us stay active with hiking, cycling, yoga, or busy work schedules. Taking time for regular massage isn’t just about relaxation—it’s one way to support your overall wellness and recovery.

Whether you’re looking for stress relief, muscle relaxation, or therapeutic massage in Boulder, every session should be tailored to your individual needs.

Your body works hard for you every day. Giving it time to recover is one of the best investments you can make in your health.

Swedish Massage or Deep Tissue Massage?

If you’re thinking about booking a massage, you may wonder which style is right for you.

Swedish massage is ideal if your goal is relaxation, reducing everyday stress, and improving circulation. It uses smooth, flowing techniques that leave many people feeling refreshed and recharged.

Deep tissue massage focuses on areas of chronic muscle tension and stiffness. It can be especially helpful for people who spend long hours at a computer, have physically demanding jobs, or enjoy activities like hiking, climbing, and cycling around Boulder.

The best massage isn’t about choosing the strongest pressure. It’s about finding the right combination of techniques for your body and your goals.

If you’re looking for massage therapy in Boulder, a personalized session can help you feel better, move more comfortably, and support your overall well-being.

Why Does My Neck Hurt After Working at a Computer?
If you've ever finished a day at your computer with a stiff neck, tight shoulders, or even a headache, you're definitely not alone. It's one of the most common concerns I hear from people in Boulder, especially those who work remotely or spend long hours at a desk.
The interesting part is that your neck isn't always the real problem.
When we sit in front of a computer, our head often drifts forward without us noticing. Considering that the average human head weighs around 10 to 12 pounds, even a slight forward position places much more strain on the muscles that support your neck and upper back. Over several hours, those muscles work continuously, leading to fatigue, tightness, and discomfort.
Your shoulders also tend to round forward while typing, and many people unconsciously tighten their jaw when concentrating. These small habits can gradually create tension that spreads from the upper back into the neck and even causes headaches.
People living in Boulder often balance desk work with active hobbies like hiking, climbing, mountain biking, skiing, or lifting weights. While staying active is wonderful for overall health, adding exercise on top of muscles that are already tight from sitting can sometimes make those areas feel even more restricted.
There are several simple things that can help during the workday. Adjusting your monitor so the top of the screen is close to eye level, keeping your feet supported on the floor, and taking a short movement break every 30 to 60 minutes can make a noticeable difference. Even standing up, rolling your shoulders, or gently turning your head from side to side for a minute can help reduce stiffness.
Massage therapy can also be a valuable part of managing this type of tension. Instead of focusing only on the neck itself, a therapist often works with the muscles of the upper back, shoulders, chest, and jaw because they all contribute to how your neck feels. A personalized session may help reduce muscle tightness, improve mobility, and encourage relaxation after long hours at a computer.
If you've been searching for massage in Boulder, therapeutic massage, or deep tissue massage for neck and shoulder tension, finding a treatment that addresses your individual movement patterns is often more effective than simply treating the painful area.
Our bodies weren't designed to stay in one position all day. Whether you work from home, in an office, or split your time between the computer and the outdoors, giving your muscles regular attention can help you move more comfortably and enjoy everything Boulder has to offer.
