Your nickel allergy symptoms are not random. They follow your hormones.

In this live, we look at four windows where systemic nickel allergy and the mast cell, histamine, and DAO systems all shift at once: your menstrual cycle, perimenopause, postpartum, and HRT.

You will learn:

→ Why so many women say "my SNAS gets worse around my period" and what the research actually shows
→ The premenstrual histamine spike and what it does to your gut, skin, sleep, and pain
→ Why perimenopause is a new vulnerability window for asthma, hives, and reactivity, even in women who never had symptoms before
→ The postpartum quadruple hit: estrogen crash, placental DAO loss, iron depletion, and immune rebound, all at once
→ HRT for SNAS patients: what type, what route, and the protective progesterone finding most clinicians do not know about
→ Hormonal contraceptives and SNAS
→ A decision framework for reading your own pattern across your cycle and life stage

We will also talk about why the standard menopause guidelines do not address histamine, mast cells, or allergic disease at all, and what that means for you and your doctor.

Bring your questions. I will answer them live.

If you have endometriosis AND any kind of gut symptoms — IBS, bloating, reflux, irregular stools — there's a connection your gynecologist almost certainly hasn't been taught.

In this deep dive, I walk through what most doctors think causes endometriosis (the mainstream Bulun framework), where that textbook stops short of root cause, and what the last 5 years of research is showing about nickel, mast cells, estrogen receptor alpha, and a possible feedback loop that may help drive the disease forward.

We cover three levels of evidence for nickel's involvement in endo — graduated, not absolute — so you can evaluate the science for yourself: strong (symptom amplification via the Italian Borghini studies), moderate (population-level risk factor data via Yuk's Korean cohorts), and hypothesis (the upstream feedback loop).

This isn't a "nickel causes endometriosis" video. It's a "here's what the science actually shows, here's where the evidence is strong vs. emerging, and here's a specific dietary trial that the literature supports for a subset of women with endo."

The takeaway: If you have endometriosis AND significant GI symptoms, a 6-8 week low-nickel diet trial has the strongest evidence base of any dietary approach published for this specific population.

Dr. Laura Duzett, DO NTP explains how chronic stress unexpectedly increases nickel absorption. Inflammation raises hepcidin, which initially blocks iron. When iron drops, your body ramps up transporters like DMT1 to compensate. However, DMT1 also absorbs nickel, leading to higher nickel levels from the same foods. Hydration and diet are key during the day. At 7 PM, my lights shift to warm tones to protect melatonin production. Before bed, a hot bath with dim light, water or tea (or a drink!) triggers my temperature drop trick for optimal sleep. This is educational content only, by Dr. Laura Duzett, DO NTP. Poor sleep profoundly impacts histamine levels through multiple pathways. It increases TLR4 sensitivity, bacterial waste from the gut (reducing DAO), and free radical stress (damaging HNMT). Furthermore, sleep desynchronizes mast cell clocks, increasing IgE receptors and reactivity. One bad night of sleep can directly lead to a flare. This is educational content only. Discover the amazing cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway! Your vagus nerve sends signals to your spleen, activating T cells that release acetylcholine. This calms down your immune response, directly turning off the receptor that nickel uses to trigger inflammation. Educational content from Dr. Laura Duzett, DO NTP. If you have nickel allergy and you need an implant — or you already have one and you're wondering if it's making you sick — your surgeon is working with the best information they have. The trouble is, that information is more incomplete than they may realize. Not because anyone did anything wrong. The science of how the immune system handles nickel has expanded faster than the testing protocols have caught up.

I'm Dr. Laura Duzett, a resident physician training in pathology and a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I'm also a person who lives with systemic nickel allergy syndrome (SNAS). In this ~45-minute deep dive I walk through the immunology of how nickel actually meets the immune system, what each test in the current toolkit can prove (and what it can't), and a more targeted workup framework you can bring to your care team.

What we cover:
- The three immunological forms of nickel allergy — ACD, ACM, and SNAS — and why they need three different tests
- The cell-by-cell story of how nickel is recognized, where memory T cells go, and why one implant can produce skin, gut, brain, and mast-cell symptoms simultaneously
- What the skin patch test, oral mucosa patch test, LTT/MELISA, oral nickel challenge, and low-nickel diet trial each catch — and what they miss
- The Apostolos 2025 INSPIRE trial — the first prospective randomized trial in the entire implant-allergy literature, showing nickel-allergic patients had 10.5x adjusted odds of post-procedure device syndrome
- A more targeted workup framework — each test for what it can prove, used together
- Pre-op planning, alternatives by surgery type, and the post-op decision framework if symptoms appear
- How to talk to your surgeon collaboratively

Discover how vagal stimulation, like paced breathing, mirrors the effects of LDN to lower inflammation. Studies show 6 breaths/min measurably reduce CRP and TNF alpha. Dr. Laura Duzett, DO NTP shares a surprising sleep hack: glycine! Research shows 3g before bed improves sleep onset, increases deep sleep, and reduces next-day fatigue. If your homemade broth sets like jelly, it's rich in glycine. Can't get that consistency? Add glycine powder or cook longer. Remember, this is educational content only.
