You’ve probably seen it all over your feed. People voluntarily sitting in tubs of ice water. 🧊

But what actually is cold plunging?
Cold water immersion (also called cold plunging) is the practice of submerging your body in cold water, usually just above freezing for a short period of time, often after a sauna or heat session.
It’s not new. Humans have been using hot-cold contrast for centuries. We’re just rediscovering it.

And when it comes to anxiety, ADHD, and overall mental wellness? The benefits are worth knowing about.

We’ll be sharing more about this over the coming weeks including our therapist Gen’s personal experience and what the research actually says. 👀

Most of the leaders we work with aren’t struggling because they lack drive, skill, or information.

They’re struggling because nobody told them that managing their nervous system is part of the job. 💙
Scroll through to see what’s really going on beneath the restlessness and why it makes complete sense given the world we’re all living in.

We offer therapy and coaching for executives and leaders in Boulder and beyond. Link in bio to get started.

Your brain wasn’t built for this. 🧠

When you’re constantly bombarded with information, your prefrontal cortex, the part responsible for focus, decision-making, emotional regulation, and self-awareness gets completely overwhelmed.

This is the same part of your brain that makes you a thoughtful parent, a grounded leader, and a person capable of real self-reflection.

And right now? It’s getting pummeled.

But here’s where it gets even more interesting: there’s a second mechanism at work that makes this even harder to escape.

Hint: it has everything to do with dopamine. đź‘€

Stay tuned for part 2 because understanding what’s happening in your brain is the first step to taking it back.

💙 Save this if your focus hasn’t felt like yours lately.

There’s a big difference between a brain that’s wired differently and one that’s been conditioned to struggle. 🧠

Not every case of inattention, restlessness, or overwhelm is ADHD. Sometimes it’s anxiety. Sometimes it’s trauma. Sometimes it’s a nervous system that learned to cope in hard ways.

And sometimes? It’s all of the above.

That’s why getting the right support from someone who actually understands neurodivergence — matters so much.

If you’re not sure what’s going on for you, that’s exactly what we’re here to help you figure out. 💙
