A psychedelic experience can open something. Integration is what happens next.

Insight doesn't automatically become how you live. Knowing you don't have to earn love in a profound moment is different from staying connected to that knowing when you feel rejected. That gap is where integration happens, and it's not linear. Something that felt small during a journey can surface again months later.

We're hosting free integration circles, every second Tuesday, led by Adriana Robertson. A space to be witnessed by others who've also journeyed inward, without needing to have it figured out.

Researchers at CU Anschutz analyzed Althea session data to create the largest real-world study looking at legal psilocybin services ever conducted.

2,363 participants. 253 facilitators. Oregon and Colorado.

Highlights:
→ Depression scores (PHQ-9) fell 49% two weeks after dosing
→ Anxiety scores (GAD-7) fell 51%
→ Well-being (WHO-5) rose 22%
→ Doses above 30mg didn't outperform lower doses
→ People on SSRIs needed a higher dose and had a less intense mystical experience, but their symptom improvements matched everyone else's, with no serotonin syndrome reported
→ Participants who'd typically be excluded from clinical trials for psychosis or bipolar history took part with no related adverse events
→ Most adverse events were mild. A small number of participants with no prior history reported new suicidal thoughts after dosing, a signal we think needs more monitoring, not less attention

These are two-week results, not long-term outcomes. That's the next study.

The New York Times just asked that exact question.

Their reporting on clinics in Mexico found undisclosed dosing, unscreened medical histories, drug combinations pushed with no oversight. In the worst cases, sexual assault and death. It’s awful. We can do better.

Here’s what regulated looks like instead. In Oregon and Colorado: licensed facilitators, lab-tested products, someone in the room the whole time, doses capped by law.

In our study of 2,363 supervised psilocybin sessions: about 4% had mild adverse events, as good as clinical trials. Same category of drug. Not even close to the same outcomes.

Pioneers from A to Z in DC. This is Angie Allbee and Dominick Zurlo, respective administrators of our nation's first psilocybin program in Oregon and our latest in New Mexico.

SAMHSA pulled together leaders in our emerging industry to meet in our nation's capitol to collaborate with federal agencies across HHS as we prepare for psilocybin therapy to meet mainstream Americans, coast to coast.
