Let’s talk cerclage!!! 😷💭

What is a cerclage⁉️….. A cerclage is a procedure used during pregnancy where a doctor places a strong stitch around the cervix to help keep it closed. It’s usually done when there’s concern that the cervix may open too early, which can increase the risk of miscarriage or preterm birth! 🤯

Why would someone need to have this done? 🤔

If you have previously experienced a second-trimester pregnancy loss, or if you have a shorten cervix. A doctor might place one if they deem you have cervical insufficiency or have indications of early cervical dilation during pregnancy!🤰

There can be so many reason why a doctor would find it necessary to place one. But, the question is, why is it good to see a chiropractor if you have one?! 🤔

The chances of going into early labor are very high, hence the reason why they placed it in the first place. So, preparing your body for the unexpected is always necessary! 👏

If your body is fully aligned when you go into labor, spontaneous or not. Pushing time is decreased and recovery isn’t as harsh! 🙌

Because let’s be real, water typically breaks in the most unexpected times! So, preparing your body early on, can never start soon enough! 👶🏼

What does pediatric chiropractic look like? 💭

It’s stopping in the middle of an exam, to take a break to read a book… it’s allowing older siblings to help during an adjustment! 😍

Here at First Steps Chiropractic, we work at the child’s pace, not ours. We want more than anything, for your child to feel comfortable here in the office. So, they will enjoy their adjustments and want to come back! 👧👦🏻

Oral ties and torticollis?…. Hard pass!! 🛑➡️

What are oral ties and torticollis, and how are they related?! Well let me tell you!!…. 💭🤔

Oral ties are extra tissue in a babies mouth, which unfortunately leads to a painful latch and difficulty feeding. 👩‍🍼🍼

Torticollis (often called “wry neck”) is a condition where the neck muscles tighten or shorten, causing the head to tilt to one side while the chin points the other way.🫤

What causes these things?? 🫣

Torticollis in babies is usually due to tightness in a muscle called the sternocleidomastoid (the big neck muscle). It can happen from positioning in the womb or after birth. 👶🏼

Oral ties on the other hand, are genetic. your baby is simply going to have them or not. 🤷🏼‍♀️

But how are the two related? 🙋🏼‍♀️

A baby with an oral tie may struggle to latch well. To compensate, they might hold their head or jaw in a certain position repeatedly → this can contribute to tightness in the neck, which is torticollis. 👩‍🍼

But I am here to tell you, whether your baby has 1, 2 or all 4 oral ties and a tight neck. Help is here!! 🙌

With active chiropractic care, we use a variety of soft tissues techniques to relieve the tension in your babies neck and mouth. So, they start latching better and regain full range of motion on both sides! 🤩

Preparing your body for birth can be one of the greatest gifts you could ever give your self! 🫶🏻

When the pelvis is aligned, your baby has a straight shot out your pelvic bowl. So you won’t spend hours pushing! 🤯

Because let’s be honest, no one wants to spend a long time pushing a baby out, regardless if you get an epidural or not! Your body will become fatigued and unfortunately a lot of women end up in a C-section or vacuum birth! 🙅🏼‍♀️

So to prevent all of that, we use the Webster protocol on each and every one of our pregnant mommas. 🤰
