St. Mary's Residential Community and Services

St. Mary's Residential Community and Services St. Mary's mission is to provide a loving, spiritual community that allows individuals living with developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential.

Mary’s campus has many fun activities, including an indoor swimming pool, splash pads, a gymnasium, a beauty shop, several playgrounds, a miniature golf course, a covered horse riding arena, a walking/biking trail, a chapel in which Sunday and holy day Masses are celebrated, and many special events. The children at St. Mary’s reside in either dormitory or group home settings and receive individual

ized care. Each resident has an Individualized Program Plan developed by the Interdisciplinary Team, detailing their strengths and needs and outlining goals and objectives, which when achieved, will allow the individual to function more independently. Residents participate in day-time training either through the Rapides Parish School Board, St. Mary’s Applied Behavior Analysis Learning Center, or Day and Work Programs. Daily living tasks and community outings provide incidental training opportunities to our children, which contribute to their independence. Mary’s staff include two Board Certified Behavior Analysts, who work to promote the comprehensive principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Part of St. Mary’s success for effectively treating children with severe autism is through our ABA Program. This research based program is extremely successful for children with autism and has also proven to be effective for other spectrum disorders. ABA breaks training goals down into small segments and uses positive reinforcement. The ABA
program is utilized in St. Mary’s ABA Learning Center and is currently being introduced throughout the main campus and our group homes.

We're so excited that Ol' Mel's Farm is now bringing their animals to St. Mary's!! From gentle goats to fuzzy friends, our residents light up getting to pet, feed, and spend time with these sweet visitors. There's something so special about time with animals — the smiles, the calm, the pure joy. It's connection, comfort, and a whole lot of happy all rolled into one.

Every day in our ABA program is full of growth, creativity, and connection. Our residents build daily-living skills through hands-on learning, art, and play — at their own pace and in their own way. From focused art projects to quiet moments of reflection to big smiles with the staff who cheer them on, these are the moments that make St. Mary's home.

Because here, we focus on what each person CAN do — and we celebrate every single step.

Because You Gave, They Have a Place to Grow. 💙

Last year, you came together for St. Mary’s Feast for Good, saw a need, and gave.

Today, our residents have a new gym designed to support their movement, health, and overall well-being.

And Greg? He couldn’t even wait for the installation to be finished before jumping on the treadmill. ❤️

This is what your generosity makes possible.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this gym a reality.

A sacred first for our St. Mary's family. 🙏 We recently gathered for our very first Adoration on campus with our new Monstrance — a beautiful moments of peace, prayer, and reflection for our residents and staff. We're grateful for a community that nurtures the spirit as well as the heart.

We cut the ribbon on something special — St. Mary's brand-new fitness center! This space was made possible by the incredible generosity of our Feast for Good supporters, who saw a real need and helped bring it to life. Here's the heart behind it: St. Mary's is home for life. As our residents grow older, their health needs change too — mobility, strength, and wellness matter more than ever. Our new gym, complete with an aerobics area and a strength-training space, is all about preventative health and helping our residents stay strong and active for years to come.

A heartfelt thank-you to Bishop Marshall for blessing our new facility, to the Chamber for helping us celebrate, and to every donor who made it happen. This is just the first phase of an even bigger vision for health and wellness at St. Mary's — and we can't wait to share what's next. 🙏

🐴 Horses are back at St. Mary’s!

St. Mary’s is excited to welcome Healing Hearts Through Hooves for an equine therapy experience designed to bring connection, confidence, and new opportunities to our residents.

During their first visit, residents met the horses, worked through some initial nerves, and discovered just how special that connection can be. 💚
This partnership is helping bring equine therapy back to St. Mary’s, and we’re just getting started. We can’t wait to welcome our new partners back for another visit!

We're proud to introduce Dr. Pizarro, who helps guide autism support here at St. Mary's. Her approach is rooted in dignity and strength: "People with autism are not broken. We teach skills so each person can navigate their world how they choose to."

She reminds us that "the amount of support someone needs is not a measure of their worth" — and that at St. Mary's, we meet each individual right where they are. Welcome, Dr. Pizarro!

One Last Summer Day at Gator Grounds RV Resort & Waterpark ☀️💦

As summer comes to an end, we’re looking back at some of the moments that made this season so much fun at St. Mary’s.

From the lazy river and water slides to time spent with friends, our residents got to enjoy a summer filled with fun, connection, and new experiences beyond campus.

But there’s more to these outings than what you see on camera. Hear from our residents and staff about what it takes to make these experiences possible—and why getting out into the community matters.
