🏃♀️⛷️ Big activity coming up? Warm up with purpose 🏋️♀️🚴♀️
Before you jump into your next lower-body activity, give your body a chance to prepare for the movement it’s about to do!
Follow along with Brooke through these dynamic stretches to help get your lower body moving, increase your range of motion, and feel more loose + ready to go. 💪
✨ Why dynamic stretching before activity?
Dynamic stretching takes your joints and muscles through controlled, active movements to help increase range of motion, elevate muscle temperature, and prepare your body for the movement you’re about to perform. Research also suggests dynamic stretching can help support power, sprinting, and jumping performance when used as part of a warm-up.
And what about static stretching? 👀
Static stretching still has a place in your routine. However, holding longer static stretches immediately before explosive or high-intensity activity may temporarily reduce strength and power. For that reason, dynamic movements are often a better fit for the active portion of your warm-up. Save longer static stretches for after training or a separate mobility session.
🔥 Think:
Dynamic stretching → PREPARE for movement
Static stretching → GREAT for improving flexibility
So before your next leg day, hike, run, bike ride, ski day, or any lower-body workout, take a few minutes to move dynamically and get your body ready!
Prepare your body. Power your performance. 💪
