This mastermind class was in 2022 but thought I’d share because it is still very much relevant to the work I do at Turning Tides.
Love the environmental mastermind class on Wednesday evenings. I hate that I’ve had to miss the last several. I absolutely love environmental medicine. However, my IFM study group meets on Wednesdays at the same time as this environmental live event. It’s never recorded 🙄. Anyway, I was able to attend this week because the IFM group needed a mental week to regroup, lol. It’s intense stuff, let me tell you.
This week’s environmental mastermind was on the topic of dentistry, i.e., oral care and how it impacts the body as a whole. So many toxins are used in dentistry, too. The dentist who was our guest speaker shared many very interesting articles. My comprehensive health and lifestyle history includes oral care. So, I’m already asking very important questions regarding this seriously overlooked problem between oral health and whole-body health.
The dentist arranged for any licensed practitioner attending the mastermind to open a lab account with this company. So why would I need an account with an oral care lab? Well, let me answer this. Most conventional dentists never ask about or educate patients on the connection between the two. (Oral vs whole body). And they never check the bacteria in someone’s mouth. That’s a fact. I’m gonna share a little about myself and the connection between oral and body. But first, let me explain one reason why these types of labs are important to me.
For one reason - Cardiovascular!!! One of the panels, for example, measures 11 types of bacteria known to cause periodontitis (gum disease) and the increased risk of cardiovascular disease. These bacteria are also associated with diabetes, adverse pregnancy outcomes, rheumatoid arthritis, and other systemic illnesses.
I was talking to a practitioner friend, a massage therapist, about this, and she shared a recent story about one of her clients. Her client had visited a holistic dentist who ran similar labs. My friend has been working with her client's hip. As it turns out, one of the bacteria found on her panel was linked to the hip. Seriously!!!
Seems a little far-fetched? I don’t think so. FYI, I’ve never had one of these labs done. I’ve ordered a kit so I can have my own experience. But what I said I would share of my personal experience is below.
In 2017, I had a tooth pulled. But this wasn’t the eye-opening experience until I realized there were two areas I had been dealing with that had disappeared.
1. My right shoulder had been hurting for at least 6 solid months. I didn’t have a full range of motion. However, the dentist asked me to stay for about 30 minutes after the tooth was pulled. While still hanging out in the dental chair, I began to notice my shoulder didn’t seem to hurt as much. On the 45-minute drive home, I mentioned to Bill that my shoulder was no longer hurting. Once I arrived home, the pain had subsided, and I had a full range of motion. 😁
2. My right hip. Same thing. But it hurt for at least 2 to 3 full years prior to this tooth being pulled. To the point when I stood up or got out of the car, etc…. It took me a few seconds to actually move. So this night I went to bed with a fully healed right shoulder and a right hip that still hurt. BUT when I woke up and jumped out of bed, I realized my hip wasn’t hurting, and I actually didn’t have to pause to move. Now, not only was my right shoulder fully healed, but so was my right hip.
This made me curious. So, I pulled up my tooth meridian chart. It’s the chart that connects each tooth to different areas of the body. You guessed it! That tooth was connected to my right shoulder, but the weird thing is, it wasn’t directly connected to my right hip joint; it was connected to the lower right back, where the hip bone is. So, I’m thinking since it’s all connected, perhaps the problem wasn’t my actual hip. Maybe it was the lower bone in my back. Regardless, neither one has ever hurt again, ever!! Not even a little bit.
Ok. Most recently, you may remember the kidney stone situation I mentioned several weeks ago. Once I found out the problem was a stone, I decided to pull out my teeth meridian chart again. I have crowns on my front teeth from the motorcycle accident I mentioned a few days ago. And unfortunately, two very old root canals 😫. So, this whole kidney stone thing has motivated me to deal with this very old problem. When I looked at the connection between these two teeth and the body system, guess what I discovered? You got it. They are connected to the kidney and bladder. 🤓
So, this is how incredibly relevant it is to know what’s up in your mouth and how it connects to your overall health experiences.
FYI: one extremely important and relevant connection between mental/emotional health and oral health. Did you know that when a tooth is pulled, for example, if not irradiated properly, mycotoxins can develop and go to the brain? The dentist also shared information on root canals and how to perform them as safely as possible—very interesting stuff.
