I have been working in Manatee County in wound care for nearly 8 years, and I've recently obtained my Certified Wound Specialist certification after passing my boards through the American Board of Wound Management. Wound care can be very simple, but all too often, healing is delayed by infection, poor choices in dressing use, non evidence based wound cleansing/washing, etc. Acute wounds can quickl

y become chronic and then begin to affect the patient's quality of life. My goals are to watch wounds progressively heal and close so they don't adversely impact one's daily routine, as well as to prevent wounds from developing in the future. It takes teamwork and dedication by both the patient and me, in order to ensure that all wounds are healed in a timely manner.
