Today was productive. Cleaned the back deck. Cleaned one of outside garbage cans. Cleaned the porch downstairs. Well, not quite done. The window blows all the leaves and dust under there! Oh and I rearranged the living room furniture! I am ready to get in my bed in clean fresh sheets!

❤️ The Chapters We Don’t Know We’ll Miss

I used to think the important moments would announce themselves.

The births.
The homecomings.
The graduations.
The big celebrations.

But I’m starting to realize that some of the moments I miss the most were completely ordinary.

A kid calling for me from another room.

Uniforms mixed into the laundry.

Too many shoes by the door.

Driving everybody everywhere and wishing, just once, I could have a quiet afternoon.

I didn’t know I was going to miss any of it.

That’s the strange thing about life.

Sometimes you don’t realize you’re living a chapter you’ll someday ache to visit again.

So lately, I’m trying to pay attention.

Not because everything is perfect.

But because this ordinary Saturday afternoon might be a memory I’m going to wish I could step back into someday.

I’m not trying to completely change my life overnight.

I wish I could snap my fingers and it would happen. But unfortunately that kind of magic does not exist. 😂🥴

I’m trying something different.

One important task.
One better food choice.
A short walk.
A few weights.
And then I STOP before my hyperfocus convinces me I need to fix my entire life by noon. 😂

I’m learning that getting my time back might not come from doing more.

Maybe it comes from finally being intentional about what I do with the time I already have.

So that’s the experiment.

One ordinary day at a time. Let’s see where it takes me. ❤️
