For over 40 years Art was director of the Col John Chester Fife and Drum Corps. For the last 20 plus years Art and his wife Kathy have been a part of our family. Joining us every 4th of July aboard the Sea Mist while the Corps would play along the Thimble Islands. Any special Corps function, fife and drum gatherings, we always enjoyed his company. He will be sorely missed. The Creek would like to send our condolences to his family, his Col John Chester family, and all that knew him. Please keep the Hutchinson family in your thoughts and prayers.
Col John Chester is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Arthur Hutchinson Jr. The corps has known no one as dedicated as Mr. Hutchinson and his loss will leave a deep hole in our hearts.
Mr. Hutchinson stepped into the leadership of Col John in 1984 and held the position for over four decades.
40+ years of adventures across the east coast; camping in Vermont, lightning storms in NY, marching in Philadelphia and on Main Street USA.
40+ years of fostering a love for fife & drum; sending members off to The Old Guard or local senior corps, and even back to Col John as instructors.
40+ years of shaping children into young adults; teaching leadership skills, personal responsibility and sending kids off to the world more fully prepared for it.
40+ years of true friendship; of creating a family, our Col John family, who will always be there for you if and when you need them.
That’s why he's Poppa H, because for so many of us, he’s the head of this family. He helped raise us and we wouldn’t be who we are today without his influence, his caring and his love for us.
Col. John Chester sends it's deepest sympathies to Mrs. Hutchinson, Amanda, Alyssa, Artie and the rest of the Hutchinson family. We're especially holding his beloved grand daughters Maggie, Lexi, Lily, Emma and Morgan in our hearts.
We will carry him with us in each memory and in each tune we play.
