Day 2 of with Lovable...

I have a working prototype, and now it's time to iterate, refine, and test!

Eyeballs are still intact thanks to these powerful glasses, and my perfectionism is MOSTLY in check.

Incredibly grateful for this opportunity to build alongside other women exploring AI, especially Lovable as a platform. The team has been incredibly supportive and beyond gracious!

Today is the day! Send good vibes that for the next 72 hours my eyeballs stay intact, and my perfectionism stays in check! Let's GO!

In case you missed it, I will be working alongside around 800 other women in the AI community participating in Season 04. An AI Build Event!!

I'll be building a tool for nurse educators to help them build interactive activities!

Okay, I can barely contain my excitement.

Getting to be part of Lovable Season 04 is still blowing my mind. I’ve been reading the intro posts in the community of over 700 amazing women, and so far I haven’t found another nurse educator.

I’m excited to be building a tool for other nurse educators, but also having a bit of imposter syndrome.

I hope my participation in this event can inspire other nurse educators who have ideas, to start building. And this might inspire me to start sharing all that I have learned and taught myself just by tinkering, experimenting, and being curious.

Stay tuned, I’m about to turn one of the gazillion ideas in my brain into a thing!
Shebuilds commences in T - 38 hours!

In this article I give a preview to PulsePoint Notes issue 02: How I developed Meet Me In the Med Room for my pharmacology course!

https://www.linkedin.com/posts/pulsepoint-education_a-colleagues-approach-to-open-office-hours-activity

A colleague’s approach to open office hours gave me an idea for my nursing learners: pharmacology practice with more structure and a game-night feel. That became Meet Me in the Med Room. In this article, I share the teaching decisions behind it, including what I wanted learners to practice and how...

A learner who seems disengaged may not be disengaged. They may be managing more than their nervous system can hold in a room full of demands.

This is one of the hardest skills in nursing education: noticing the behavior, then asking what is happening underneath it before you decide what it means.

The learner who is late again. The learner who seems checked out during simulation. The learner who turns in work that is not their best. The easy read is that they do not care. The harder, more honest read is that something is happening that you cannot see from the front of the room.

You do not have to lower your standards. You do have to stay curious long enough to understand what you are actually looking at.

Notice the behavior. Then ask what is happening underneath it before you decide what it means.

You cannot teach with clarity if you have no room left to think.

We say it about learners all the time. They cannot learn when they are overwhelmed. They cannot perform when they are running on empty. We design accommodations, adjust pacing, and build in breaks because we recognize that a depleted nervous system is not a learning environment.

What would it look like to apply that same recognition to the educator?

Not as a luxury. Not as self-care language. As a design condition. If the person designing the learning experience has no emotional, cognitive, relational, or practical room, the learning experience suffers. The curriculum gets thinner. The feedback gets blunted. The patience for a struggling learner disappears.

Protecting your capacity is not separate from your teaching. It is part of how you teach well.

The learning environment teaches more than the content on the syllabus.

How you handle pressure when a learner pushes back in front of the class. How you respond when someone makes a medication error in simulation. How you meet conflict between two students who do not want to work together.

Learners are watching. Not to spy, but to learn what nursing culture feels like. They are absorbing how authority is used, how mistakes are treated, how disagreement is handled. Those lessons follow them to the bedside long after the lecture content fades.

The next time a difficult moment surfaces in your classroom, ask yourself: what is your learning environment teaching right now?
It may be the most important question on your agenda.

AI can draft a case study, generate practice questions, and summarize a textbook chapter in seconds. That is useful. It is also not the part that matters most.

What matters is what the educator does with it.

AI is a thinking partner. It can help you see a topic from a different angle, pressure-test your assessment logic, or surface a gap you had not noticed. But the educator stays responsible for what reaches the learner. The accuracy, the clinical relevance, the judgment about what this specific group of learners needs right now.

Keep it contained. Use it where it helps. Do not hand it the parts that require your professional judgment.

Where does AI support your thinking? That is a better question than asking what AI can do.
