Moment of appreciation for this stunning upper blepharoplasty and brow lift combo! 🤩 Even without makeup her eyes are looking so uplifted and snatched. She is 6 months out and just getting better.

Look at the position of the tail of the brow to see just how rejuvenated her brows are.

A complex case with a satisfying outcome! This gentleman was extremely bothered by his upper and lower eyelids- in particular the skin excess and puffiness of his lower lids and cheeks- otherwise known as festoons.

This is a great example of festoons. Slide to second photo for a visual. These are separate from the lower eyelid fat, and represent edema and skin excess in the upper cheek.

We performed an upper and lower blepharoplasty with fat grafting and CO2 first, knowing we would most likely need to come back and perform a direct excision of the festoons. We did the second stage about 10 months after the first surgery, and he is now 3 months out from the second. His scars are already hard to find and he is doing great.

Because a direct excision does leave a facial scar, typically this is reserved for severe cases.

We are so happy for him and excited to continue to watch him heal.

We’re growing our team! Guthrie Facial Plastic Surgery is seeking a certified surgical technologist for our fully accredited in-office surgical suite.

We are looking specifically for Tuesdays with the occasional Thursday fill-in!

At least 2 years of scrubbing experience required. Plastic surgery experience highly preferred but not required.

Must be highly motivated and a team player with positive energy!

The role will begin at the start of September, must be able to train prior to that.

Beautiful 6 month result from a combination forehead reduction/hairline lowering with brow lift.

Our lovely patient was self-conscious about the height of her forehead. We were able to lower her hairline by approximately 5 cm, and at the same time give her a stunning brow lift.

She has healed extremely well and her scar is hard to find even up close. She can wear all hair styles with confidence!

Malar edema- a facial plastics surgeon’s biggest foe! It is an extremely common and very misunderstood problem.

On a basic level, malar edema is swelling at the top of cheek caused primarily by lymphatic obstruction.

Importantly, they are NOT eye bags; they are completely separate and require their own management.

Here’s 5 Blepharoplasty Myths Debunked ‼️

1. I won’t look like myself after - If done properly, Blepharoplasty results should look incredibly natural and undetectable. You should just look like a more awake/refreshed version of yourself
2. The recovery is painful- most patients are pleasantly surprised by how LITTLE pain there is after surgery. Many take otc Tylenol only. “Dryness or a “gritty” feeling are much more common than pain, and are well-managed with lubricating drops /ointments.
3. I will have bad scarring or keloid- the eyelid skin generally heals very quickly and well. Visible scarring is unusual after you are fully healed. Keloids are exceptionally rare in this area.
4. Nonsurgical treatments will do the same thing - there is no substitute for surgical Blepharoplasty for excess upper lid skin or lower lid puffiness/deep dark circles.
5. I’m too young/old for Blepharoplasty- if you are healthy and you are an appropriate surgical candidate, there is no true age restriction. Eyelid aging is heavily genetic, making some individuals show issues very early on and some not until a more advanced are.

Meet Dr. Guthrie! A little reintroduction for all of our lovely new followers! My name is Dr. Ashley Guthrie, and I am a double-board certified and fellowship trained Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon in Brentwood/Nashville, Tennessee.

What does it mean to be double-board certified? It means I completed 4 years of medical school followed by 5 years of training SPECIFICALLY in surgery of the face, head and neck, followed by an additional year training EXCLUSIVELY in plastic surgery of the face and neck, as well as hair restoration. Very few other surgeons are so focused on a particular area, giving me a unique skill set.

I was fortunate enough to do my residency training at the world-class New York Eye and Ear Institute and Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC, and my fellowship training with the world-renowned Dr. Daniel Rousso- one of the most prolific face and hair restoration surgeons in the country- in Birmingham, AL.

Some of my most popular surgeries include Deep Plane Face and Neck Lift, Blepharoplasty, Rhinoplasty, Fat Grafting, Lip Lifts, and Otoplasty.
