A runner's tie lacing creates a tight heel lock by using the extra top eyelet to form a small grip loop.

This stops your heel from slipping forward, reduces friction blisters, and keeps your foot firmly in place during hard runs or long walks.

How It WorksExtra Loop: You thread the lace back through the same top eyelet to make a loop on each side.Cross Pull: You cross the laces and feed them through the opposite loops before tying a bow.Heel Hold: Pulling the laces clamps the sides down tight around your ankle bone.

THINKING ABOUT BAREFOOT SHOES? ASK YOURSELF THESE 5 QUESTIONS FIRST.

1️⃣ Can my big toe bend backward comfortably?
Your big toe plays a huge role in pushing you forward when you walk. If not, shoes can help supplement this while you increase your mobility.

2️⃣ Can my arch flatten AND rebound under load?
A healthy arch isn't supposed to stay rigid—it needs to absorb and return force. If not, footwear can help support this process while you gain the the strength you need.

3️⃣ Do my ankles move well?
If your ankles are stiff, something else may have to compensate. If not, the rise of the heel in a shoe can help promote this while you improve your mobility.

4️⃣ Can I balance comfortably on one foot?
Barefoot shoes ask your feet and lower legs to provide more of their own stability. If not, shoes can give you some stability while you train to gain yours.

5️⃣ Am I willing to transition slowly?
Your feet may need weeks or months to adapt—not a weekend. You can think of your footwear as part of your self treatment plan.

Barefoot shoes aren't automatically good or bad.

The more important question is:
Are your feet actually prepared for what you're asking them to do?

Don't forget your feet are your foundation. It is their job to (1) support your bodyweight (2) absorb impact when you take a step. If they can't function the right way then everything above them is going to suffer the consequences.
