We’re at Saginaw Valley State University today for the Micareerquest middle michigan event!

This expo is held every year to help high school students learn about career opportunities in our local communities. Students who stopped by our booth got to participate in an Amigo “grocery race.” They also got to learn about what goes into making an Amigo!

You may have spotted an Amigo employee wearing a yellow smiley-face pin in our photos, videos, or even in person if you've ever visited our headquarters. Since today is World Smile Day, we wanted to share the story behind our Amigo pin.

In the 1970s, our founder, Al Thieme, wanted to change the stigma surrounding personal mobility products. He envisioned a future where mobility products empowered people to live life on their own terms, focusing less on limitations and more on the activities, relationships, and experiences that bring them joy.

That philosophy shaped his vision for Amigo, which he often described as "The Friendly Wheelchair." Known for his optimism and positive outlook, Al met life's challenges with the same smile he hoped Amigo products would inspire in others.
