It’s National Pharmacy Week, and I’ve been thinking about the conversations that led me to create MedsCheck.

“Could my medication be causing this?”
“Why do I need this one?”
“Something has changed since Mom came home from the hospital.”

Medication questions are about more than the medicines themselves. They’re about how you’re feeling, instructions that aren’t clear, or concerns about someone you love.

Getting to know patients and listening to those concerns have been the most meaningful parts of my work as a pharmacist. I created MedsCheck to give those conversations more time and attention.

You don’t need to know exactly what to ask or how to explain your concern. We can start with what you’re experiencing and work through it together.

Whether the medications are yours or for someone you love, let’s make sense of them together.

No one prepares you for the moment you look at a loved one’s kitchen counter and realize there are medications from several doctors, vitamins, over-the-counter products, and bottles you are not sure they still take.

You are not failing. Medication management can become complicated quickly, especially after hospital stays, new diagnoses, or multiple specialists.

A good first step: create one current list of everything being taken, including prescriptions, OTC products, vitamins, and supplements.

💙 Happy Grandparents Day!💙

Today we celebrate the grandparents and grandparent figures who have loved us, helped raise us, cheered us on, and always seem to know when we need a little extra care.

As they get older, though, it can be hard to keep up with everything, especially medications. A new prescription gets added, the directions change, there are vitamins or over-the-counter products in the mix, and suddenly the pill bottles start to feel overwhelming.

That’s what MedsCheck is for. It’s time to sit with a pharmacist, talk through everything being taken, and make sure it all makes sense. No judgment, no silly questions. Just support and a little more peace of mind.

This transition can bring a lot of uncertainty. You're trying to be there for someone you love while also figuring out a new unexpected role. I wrote this for the daughters, sons, and caregivers who are looking for answers and hoping to replace some of that worry with relief.

After nearly 20 years as a community pharmacist, I saw the same struggles over and over. Older adults and family caregivers trying to manage medications from multiple doctors. Questions that never seemed to get answered. And not enough time for the conversations that really matter.

That's why I created MedsCheck.

🎉 Big News! 🎉

Today I found out that I passed the Tennessee MPJE! ✔️💊

It may seem like just another exam, but it's a huge step toward a goal I've been working on - launching MedsCheck.

MedsCheck started as an idea to help people better understand their medications and get answers to their medication questions. And now, it is getting closer to becoming a reality. There is still work to do, but obtaining pharmacist licensure in both Colorado and Tennessee is one major milestone checked off the to-do list.

To everyone who has supported me, listened to my ideas, offered encouragement, and cheered me on through the studying, planning, and dreaming - THANK YOU! Your support means more than you know.
