Before Brighton Marine became the organization we know today, its story began more than 225 years ago.

In 1798, Congress passed “An Act for the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen,” establishing what would become the Marine Hospital Service. Over time, that mission evolved and eventually found a home in Brighton, where it continues to serve those in need today.

While much has changed since then, one thing has remained constant: a commitment to caring for people.

Today, Brighton Marine's campus is home to organizations providing healthcare, housing, and supportive services for Veterans and military families.

As we reflect on our history, we are reminded that our mission has always been defined by service.

The legacy we carry forward is one of healthcare, housing, and hope.

Today we celebrate the 251st Birthday of the United States Army and honor the Soldiers who have served our nation with courage, commitment, and sacrifice since 1775.

For two and a half centuries, the Army has answered the call to serve, while embodying the values of duty, honor, and selfless service.

At Brighton Marine, we are proud to support Veterans and military families through our mission of Healthcare, Housing, and Hope.

On Flag Day, we recognize the symbol that has represented our nation and the ideals of freedom, service, and unity that it stands for.

The American flag serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by generations of service members and their families, as well as the enduring values that bring us together as a nation.

At Brighton Marine, we are honored to serve those who have served, supporting Veterans and military families through Healthcare, Housing, and Hope.

Did you know? Each year, Brighton Marine partners with The Fishing Academy to provide veterans with an opportunity to spend a day on the water exploring Boston Harbor.

While the trip includes fishing, its impact goes far beyond the catch. Through shared experiences, conversation, and camaraderie, veterans have the opportunity to strengthen connections and build community with one another.

This annual tradition reflects Brighton Marine's commitment to fostering Hope through programs and partnerships that support the well-being of those who served. Because sometimes hope looks like a meaningful conversation, a shared experience, and a reminder that you're not alone.

Permanent Change of Station season can bring a lot of change for military families, from new assignments and new communities to new routines and responsibilities.

While many things may be changing, access to quality healthcare should remain a priority.

Through US Family health Plan of Southern New England, administered by Brighton Marine, eligible military families have access to comprehensive healthcare, coordinated services, and support designed to help them navigate every stage of life.

As military families prepare for their next chapter, we're proud to support their health and well-being along the way.

Healthcare. Housing. Hope.

June is PTSD Awareness Month.

For many Veterans, service-related experiences can leave lasting impacts long after military service ends.
PTSD affects individuals in different ways, but one thing remains true: no one should have to face it alone.

At Brighton Marine, we believe that healing begins with connection, support, and access to the resources that help individuals move forward. Through our commitment to Healthcare, Housing, and Hope, we strive to create a community where veterans and their families can find the support they need and the encouragement to take the next step.

This month, we recognize the strength of those living with PTSD and reaffirm our commitment to fostering understanding, reducing stigma, and supporting the well-being of the veteran community.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. The Veterans Crisis Line is available 24/7 by calling or texting 988 and pressing 1.

On June 6, 1944, thousands of Allied service members landed on the beaches of Normandy in a mission that would help to shape history.

Today, we honor the courage, determination, and sacrifice of those who served on D-Day and remember the generations of Veterans who have answered the call to serve our nation.

At Brighton Marine, we are proud to support Veterans and their families through healthcare, housing, and hope.

We remember their service. We honor their sacrifice. We remain committed to those who served.

We are excited for our neighbors at Franciscan Children's, in partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital, as they begin a transformative renovation of their Brighton campus. This campus renewal will broaden access to state-of-the-art care for patients across the region, expand research, and add even more programs and services to children and families in need.

This week, Veterans from the Brighton Marine community participated in our annual Fishing Trip, an event that brings Veterans together outside of daily routines to connect, engage, and enjoy time with their peers.

At Brighton Marine, our hope pillar is about creating opportunities for connection and community.

Programs and activities like our annual Fishing Trip help foster relationships, support overall well-being, and provide veterans with opportunities to stay engaged.

Did You Know?

This plaque, displayed on the Brighton Marine campus, features the words of our founder, Col. Robert E. Hawes:
"My greatest satisfaction is how many wonderful people we took care of."

More than a quote, it reflects the mission that continues to guide Brighton Marine today. Through healthcare, housing, and hope, we remain committed to serving veterans and military families with the dignity, respect, and support they deserve.

These words have shaped our work for decades, and they continue to inspire us every day.
