Before Brighton Marine became the organization we know today, its story began more than 225 years ago.
In 1798, Congress passed “An Act for the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen,” establishing what would become the Marine Hospital Service. Over time, that mission evolved and eventually found a home in Brighton, where it continues to serve those in need today.
While much has changed since then, one thing has remained constant: a commitment to caring for people.
Today, Brighton Marine's campus is home to organizations providing healthcare, housing, and supportive services for Veterans and military families.
As we reflect on our history, we are reminded that our mission has always been defined by service.
The legacy we carry forward is one of healthcare, housing, and hope.
