For a very special PlantWalk!

Of course we will begin along the wild edges! Where we will see many edible and medicinal wild plants! These are the plants that you don’t know yet, you don’t know their names, you don’t know what they do… And you don’t know what they taste like.
These are the things I like to share on my PlantWalks!
— so that wild plants, also become your friends, your allies in your health and wellness, and they become ingredients in your kitchen!

we will spend approximately two hours walking and talking about plants —

After that, we will gather and sit around a table… & sample a few wild foods that I will have prepared in advance from my favorite recipes!

This will all take place Groundwork Farm
in Westport MA — a beautiful organic & carefully stewarded produce farm.

We will walk the wild edges of Groundwork Farm - a beautiful, organic produce farm in Westport MA.. where we will see many edible & medicinal plants

I will share info about each plant - habitat, harvest, processing for medicine or recipes for cooking! As ALLways I will encourage questions & discussion … hoping for some robust Herbal discussions!
Following the walk is when things get special!!
We will have a wild foods tasting —🌿♥️
I’ll have several dishes prepared, and will discuss the plants in them and the recipe used to prepare them! —Many of which we will have seen as we walked the wild edges!

It’s a shorter list now..
The season has shifted…
We are entering the slower seasons….
This doesn’t mean we are not social, that we close off completely, we will continue to Live & Love & Laugh —Sing & Dance like we did all Summer..just at a slower, less frenetic pace.

and that’s a really good thing! Settle into it & enjoy it! Watch the trees let go of the leaves they don’t need anymore… watch those leaves gently flow into their next phase of their lives—providing safe homes for many insects, and then ultimately regenerating the soil!
Letting go IS beginning again!

‘Lemony-Light-Fig-Leaf’ is a blend I created for the RI Fig Fest I was part of last month. It is a sweet & nourishing blend with the fig leaves adding a fragrant, coconut / vanilla like flavor—💥 which pairs really well with all the lemony plants —🍋
LemonBalm, Lemongrass & Lemon Peel!
Ginger & Nettles together ground the flavor into an earthy & familiar base.

What an awesome group of PlantWalkers!!
Thank you all for coming out to Audubon Society of RI ‘s Nature Center in Bristol today! SO many great questions, lots of great Herbal discussion! —
A few laughs…

Lots of sharing of information: after I shared with the group, my understanding and knowledge of Mugwort… reducing inflammation, anti anxiety,
Eliciting lucid dreaming, moxibustion, smudging—and after sharing all this!—
I learned from a participant that Mugwort- has been studied in Asia for its effects in treating Malaria!!

We saw & discussed many Immune support plants… demonstrating how clearly Mother Earth has our backs…& our wellness! By sending up just the right plants as we move into the cold & flu season!

& BIG thank you to Katie, Kaylee & everyone Audubon Society of RI ‘s Bristol location for having me!
I hope to return again in the future!

I’m really looking forward next week!!

I’ll be returning to Bristol Audubon to lead an Edible & Medicinal PlantWalk!

The wild plants are in their full fall glory — lots of colors.. attracting lots of pollinators- many fun plants to snack on, if you are brave & ready to join me!
Borrowing the phrase my friend & teacher Russ Cohen … I will be sharing with you the many “ Wild Plants I’ve known & eaten”!!
I will only share plans with you, that I know… And have eaten!!

One of the most important things about learning to forage for wild foods, is exactly that! Having a person/a teacher who has known and eaten the plant before you!

Big Thanks to Hey Rhody Mag for their article encouraging folks to “put their phones away & go outside!!” …& including my PlantWalks as a way to do just that!!
