Happy 4/20! Let’s talk about Plant-Based Medicine and the Body. 🌿
I am a firm believer in the power of the body to heal itself. While I fully support those who utilize medical prescriptions under a doctor’s care, I’ve seen many clients successfully reduce their reliance on medication through a dedicated partnership between their physician and a Licensed Massage Therapist.
What is the Endocannabinoid System?
I’m often asked about Cannabis, but my true passion is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). Did you know your body has its own natural ECS? It’s a biological system designed to maintain balance (homeostasis). When we learn how to engage and "feed" this system through mindful bodywork and connection, we can often find relief without external substances.
My Professional Approach to Pain
As a Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, I view pain as your body’s first line of defense. If pain is ruling your life, medications (cannabis or otherwise) may be a necessary tool for you—and that is a valid path! My goal is to help you get out of pain first, then work on your posture and performance.
Safety and My Practice Standards:
To ensure the highest level of care, there are a few things I discuss in every initial session:
Substance Use: For your safety and the integrity of the treatment, I cannot perform massage therapy if a client is currently under the influence of mind-altering substances.
CBD/THC-Free: I do not use CBD or THC products in my practice. My research shows that even small amounts of THC in topicals can potentially lead to positive results on drug screenings. To protect my clients' careers and well-being, I stick to my own custom-made, all-natural pain salve with no cannabis or THC.
Education First: Understanding how your mind and body work together creates lasting change and reduces dependency on external aids.
* Note on State Regulations:
Navigating wellness while living and working across state lines is unique!
In Illinois, recreational and medical cannabis are legally available, with 2026 guidelines now expanding social equity and delivery services.
However, in Wisconsin, current laws remain restrictive. Despite recent legislative pushes this spring, adult-use cannabis is not legally sold, and possession remains a crime under Statute § 961.41(3g).
Because I practice in both regions and prioritize your safety in a clinical setting, my policy remains consistent: I maintain a substance-free environment and do not utilize THC-based products in my sessions, regardless of the state.
