Today is my first official day back at the mothership Midtown Tattoo Co. And man does it feel good to be excited to go back to work again. Just to let everyone know I have moved onto a new adventure. I will be taking all future appointments and sessions over at Midtown Tattoo Company I'm excited. Artists are not machines. We’re not built for clocks, or calendars, or neat little boxes that say “be here, be this, produce now.” We’re creatures shaped by feeling, by memory, by the quiet and the chaos of living. What we make doesn’t come from obligation; it comes from something deeper, something that can’t be rushed without breaking it.

Creation isn’t a switch we flip. It’s a tide. Sometimes it crashes in, loud and relentless, demanding to be turned into something real. Other times it pulls all the way back, leaving us standing in the quiet, wondering where it went. And in those moments, we’re not failing we’re gathering. Healing. Paying attention. Living the kind of life that gives the next wave something honest to carry.

People who don’t create like this often don’t understand. They see absence as laziness, silence as lack of discipline. But what they don’t see is the work happening underneath the weight of feeling everything so deeply, the constant translation of life into meaning, the exhaustion of caring that much about what you put into the world.

Sometimes we can’t show up because we’re trying to stay whole. Because if we force it, it comes out hollow. Because the same sensitivity that allows us to make something beautiful is the thing that needs protecting when the world gets too loud.

Artists don’t just make things we become the things we make, over and over again. And that takes time. It takes space. It takes a kind of patience most systems don’t allow.

But that doesn’t make us broken. It makes us real.
