Our favorite friends, the Anselmo-Merna JAG kids, joined the residents to paint pumpkins, pet some mini donkeys, and spend time with Emma the dog. It was one of those days where everyone had something to smile about. 🫏🐶

For 35 years, Custer Care has been caring for our neighbors and their families. Today, we’re asking our community for a little help caring for ours. ❤️

Our lift has been out of service for three weeks, and replacing it will cost $36,600.

Nine of our eleven resident rooms are upstairs, while meals, activities, and bathing facilities are downstairs. Right now, our staff are making daily van trips around the building to help residents get where they need to go. A dependable lift makes such a difference in their everyday lives.

As a nonprofit, this replacement is a significant expense for Custer Care. We’ve partnered with the Custer County Foundation to collect donations for the project. Donations through the Foundation are tax deductible, and they will provide the appropriate paperwork.

Matt and our partners at the Foundation explain the need and how you can help in this video.

Every gift, of any size, helps us get closer. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this post is another way to help reach someone who can. We’re grateful for both. ❤️

👋 Meet the Staff Wednesday: Miranda!

We’re starting a new weekly series so you can get to know some of the wonderful people who make Custer Care what it is!

First up is Miranda Tucker, who joined our Custer Care team in June! ❤️

A few things you should know about Miranda: she loves steak, cheesecake, Cheez-Its, country music, going to the lake and apparently sleeping. 😂 Her hobby? Sleeping. How does she recharge? Sleeping.

But when we asked when she’s happiest and what she’s good at?

Working & working. ❤️

We’re pretty lucky to have her spending some of those non-sleeping hours with us! 😂

Birdie is 101, and we are still reveling in that we got to watch a first happen right in front of us. ❤️

She got to see a President of the United States in person for the first time, and our caregivers were right there with her. I’ve watched this video a few times now, and that smile at the end gets me every time.

Watch it again and just take in how happy she is. How lucky are we to share moments like this with her? 🥹

A few more pictures from our special day in Grand Island! ❤️

The residents got to see a President in person for the very first time, but the day brought another new experience, too: trying some luck on the slots at Fonner Park. 😂 Look at that concentration!

The best part was getting to share the day together. We’re so grateful and THANKFUL to the caregivers and staff who came along, helped make the outing possible, and joined in on the laughs, excitement, and memories. These are the moments we love, residents and staff experiencing something new side by side. ❤️
