Congratulations to Michael Jilg on completing paramedic school!

Becoming a paramedic is no small accomplishment. It takes months of intensive classroom education, countless hours of hands on training, clinical rotations, ambulance internships, and a tremendous amount of dedication and perseverance. It’s a challenging journey that demands both knowledge and commitment, and Mike has put in the work every step of the way.

We’re proud to have Mike as part of the Broken Bow Ambulance Service and look forward to the impact he’ll continue to make serving our community.

Please join us in congratulating Mike on this outstanding achievement and wishing him the very best as he begins this next chapter as a paramedic (once he passes his national registry exam)!

If you are interested, our application can be found in the About section of our page, you can stop by the station sometime, or you can message us your email and we can send one to you!

Volunteer rescue departments across Nebraska are facing a shortage of personnel, leaving communities that depend on them at risk.

🎆 Fireworks are a fun way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday for Independence Day, but they can turn dangerous in an instant. Every year, emergency responders see serious injuries that could have been prevented.

A few simple reminders can help keep everyone safe:
• Never hold fireworks in your hand while lighting them.
• Never relight a firework that doesn’t go off. Wait at least 20 minutes, then soak it thoroughly with water. (There is an unused/dud firework barrel at the station to dispose of the duds)
• Keep children and pets a safe distance away from fireworks and ensure the surface the fireworks sit on is sturdy to avoid them falling and pointing towards anyone.
• Have a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby.
• Save the alcohol until after you’re done lighting fireworks.

The most common injuries involve hands, fingers, eyes, and burns. Taking a few extra seconds to be safe can prevent a lifetime injury.

From all of us at Broken Bow Ambulance Service, have a safe, fun, and happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸🚑

Want to make a real difference in your community but aren’t a medical provider? We have a place for you.

We’re looking for volunteer Ambulance Drivers to help respond to 911 emergencies and assist our EMS crews. Drivers are a vital part of every call, helping get patients and providers where they need to go safely while also assisting with equipment and patient care as needed.

No EMS experience? No problem.
We’ll provide the training you need to prepare you for the driver role. If you’ve ever considered getting involved in emergency services, this is a great way to start.

What we’re looking for:
- At least 19 years old
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Dependable and willing to serve the community
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Willing to complete required training

As a member of our team, you’ll gain valuable skills, build lasting friendships, and have the opportunity to make a difference when your neighbors need it most.

If you’re interested or have questions, send us a message, fill out an application (link in comments) or talk to one of us. We’d love to talk with you about joining the team.

🚑 Interested in Serving Your Community?

Broken Bow Ambulance Service is always looking for community members who want to make a difference.

We’re always looking for volunteers for a variety of roles, including:

• Drivers
• EMRs, EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics
• Registered Nurses
• Providers like Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians
• Other healthcare professionals interested in EMS

Whether you’re already licensed or just curious about getting involved, we’d love to visit with you.

Not currently licensed in EMS? That’s okay. If there’s enough interest, we can setup a class for those who would like to begin their EMS journey, help you sign up for an upcoming course, or welcome you on as a driver if patient care isn’t your passion!

Volunteering with BBAS is a great way to serve your neighbors, learn new skills, be part of a supportive team, and help ensure emergency medical care remains available in our community.

If you’d like more information or want to discuss what involvement could look like, send us a message to talk more or to ask for an application.

Your community may need you more than you realize.
