🐝 When the bees run out of feed🍯
Our bees were running low, so we loaded up the truck and trailer and headed down to Louisiana to pick up a serious supply of feed.
Our destination: M.A. Patout & Son, Ltd. in Jeanerette, Louisiana — a family-owned sugar operation with roots dating all the way back to 1825.
We came home with 2,340 pounds of pure, unrefined cane sugar. 😳
Yep… over a ton of sugar for the bees.
From the Louisiana sugarcane fields, to the forklift loading that massive sack, to getting it strapped down and hauled back to the farm — this was definitely more than your average trip to the feed store.
Now it’s safely stored and ready to keep our colonies fed when they need it.
Because beekeeping isn’t just about working the hives…
Sometimes, you’ve gotta move 2,340 pounds of sugar to keep the bees working. 🐝💪
Big thanks to M.A. Patout & Son, Ltd. for helping us keep the bees fed!
