September is National Recovery Month, thirty days to recognize something we see happen here every day: people choosing to keep going.

At WellBrook, we know recovery doesn't look like one thing. It looks like a first day of treatment, a five-year chip, a phone call at 1am, or an alum reaching out just to say hello.

While we’ve offered residential, PHP, and IOP care for years, we knew it was time to open a detox and start offering the full continuum of care.

Our detox features 24-hour nursing, providers who truly care, and the same personalized treatment you would recognize across all our programs. Like our other services in Ohio, our detox is designed for men only.

That hesitation is the hardest part, more than knowing what to say once someone picks up. You don't need to have the answers before you call, and you don't need to know what kind of treatment is needed.

Attention Clinicians!

As of yesterday, MGM-15 is illegal everywhere in the U.S. The DEA reclassified it, along with MGM-16 and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, as a Schedule I drug, the same legal category as he**in.

Here's the confusing part: 7-OH itself wasn't included in today's order. It's still working through its own federal review, and the public comment period on it just got pushed to September 10.

The label on the package rarely tells you the truth. Isolated 7-OH can run up to 500 times stronger than the kratom leaf it's named after. MGM-15 is a lab-made opioid built from 7-OH's structure and doesn't occur in the plant at all.

Our own admissions numbers back up what the headlines are just catching up to:
Only two 7-OH-related inquiries came in last year.
This year, 27.

Callers describe daily use climbing from 100mg to as much as 1,500mg, with some spending $150 to $200 a day. Many had no history with substances at all, or were years into recovery before running into this at a gas station.

“From what clients have described, this is one of the worst detoxes they have ever been through," says Laura Browning, our Director of Nursing.
