It’s that time of year again: 🎒backpacks, 👟new shoes, ⌚busy schedules, and one more thing worth adding to the list: an ortho check-in before the school year gets underway.
Summer can mean schedule changes, extra snacks, vacations, and maybe a few days where aligners, retainers, rubber bands, or brushing around braces didn’t get the same attention they usually do.
Here’s our Back-to-School Ortho Smile Checklist:
✅ Check that braces, wires, and brackets are in good shape
✅ Make sure aligners or retainers still fit properly
✅ Replace lost or worn retainer cases
✅ Stock a school-ready ortho kit - toothbrush, floss picks, wax, elastics, and a retainer/aligner case
✅ Review sports mouthguard options if your child is starting a sports program
✅ Ask any questions before schedules get even busier
