Loved these words of wisdom shared as a tribute to Dolly in my yoga class this morning by the always incredibly intuitive Tracey Toomey McQuade. Like she knows what you need to hear the minute you hit the mat.

Coming to terms with ourselves isn’t always easy. But what if we said “I will always love you” - to ourselves. The love we often want from others or reserve for others given to the one person who maybe needs it the most - YOU. So that instead of being our own worst critic, we can become the person we love the most, be true to YOU. And then, we can actually give and receive that love to and from others.

Just some thoughts from someone trying to be an anchored, decent human being over here.

Today is the final day to apply for our second Healing Arts Residency, and already I can tell we have our work cut out for us.

There has been such an incredible outpouring of interest from practitioners around the world, and it truly blows me away. I’ve been in conversation with applicants all month—answering questions, listening to their stories, and hearing why this residency feels important to them.

It reminds me of why we created this program in the first place. We felt that there was a need to create a container for practitioners to have the space, mentorship, and resources to tend to their own practice - and to themselves. And you’ve shown us this IS needed!

We only wish we could choose more than one person. We’re actively exploring ways to expand our residency offerings and create more community-led experiences where practitioners can receive support and learn from one another. So stay tuned!

A huge thank you to everyone who has already applied. And if you’ve been considering it, applications close tonight at 11:59 PM ET. There is still time to apply, and you can always drop us a DM if there’s a question we can answer.

Much love,
Meredith

As we enter the final days of applications for the Winter 2027 Healing Arts Residency, we’re revisiting a few of the inquiries that have stayed with us from last season.

“Do I trust myself and my community that we are fully capable of governing ourselves and taking care of each other with harmony, creativity and remembrance?” — Angela Angel, Oakland, CA (angel(a) • Nature As Muse • Owl’s Heart)

Angela is a traditional and holistic healing practitioner, medium, ceremonialist, multi-disciplinary artist, and gardener who has continued her Indigenous lineage as a traditional healer. For over twenty-five years, she has also worked as an organizer and facilitator, integrating healing justice, decolonization, and Spirit-guided frameworks into social justice movements.

Her residency inquiry explored building the new earth, collective healing, and how Spirit-guided leadership might continue to inform our work and everyday processes. She envisioned a participatory ritual and ceremonial space for tending to collective grief alongside collective imagination, supported by the elements, the plants, and the wisdom of our bodies.

We believe meaningful practice often begins with a meaningful question. What question is asking for your attention?

Residency applications close Sunday, August 16th. We’d be honored to receive your application. Link in bio.

12/08/2026

I’ve been sitting with all the information that is coming in around tomorrow’s Solar Eclipse Leo New Moon - even more so because August 12th is also my birthday. It feels like an especially powerful and potent time - but with that can also come the feeling of pressure. Not only do I have to know what I want to release, but also what I want to call in and manifest, I have to challenge expectations, ignite a fire and disrupt whatever has been getting in the way of my confidence and creativity - and I have to do it now while the portal is open and the timelines are shifting.

A friend asked me a more simple question today, “How do you feel about your birthday?” And I was reminded of the immense amount of gratitude I feel to have lived this last year. To have created. To have connected. To have cried. To have collapsed. Every day truly truly is a gift.

So I’m releasing all the pressure to figure out how I am going to jump my timelines, and harness all this energy - and instead just trust that if I take some time tomorrow to look at the sky (no matter what time it is) and to marvel at every single little thing, then I’m tapping into exactly what is meant for me.

I love what astrologer and writer Rachel Eve Meadows says “Leo reminds us that being central to your own life is not the same thing as demanding to be central to everybody else’s. That joy matters. Creativity matters. Love, courage, play and wholehearted participation matter. Because Leo understands that the light will one day fade. That our time here is finite. What received your light because you are here?”

What received your light?

As we welcome applications for the Winter 2027 Healing Arts Residency, we’re revisiting a few of the inquiries that have stayed with us from last season.

“How might witnessing become a tool of connection?” — B Dukes, Berkeley, CA (B Dukes BluMoon)

B’s practice includes immersive sound bath experiences, one-on-one plant medicine ceremonies, and somatic movement containers where folks try on the act of being witnessed. Centering Black, Brown, Q***r, and Trans communities, their residency proposal, “To Be A Witness,” explores witnessing as a tool of connection through family constellations and silent sits, creating space to rediscover our internal voice and pulse while living on lands that are constantly vibrating and shifting.

This month, that inquiry continues through , B’s monthly vinyl listening ritual honoring Black music across the diaspora through altar building and collective listening. Their next gathering takes place August 23 OPEN DOORS in Berkeley, CA.

We believe meaningful practice often begins with a meaningful question. What question is asking for your attention?

Applications for the Winter 2027 Healing Arts Residency are now open. We’d be honored to receive your application. Link in bio.

What does it mean for a memory to be permanently inscribed into the places we once called home?

Spanish artist Selva Aparicio (𝑺𝒆𝒍𝒗𝒂 𝑨𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒐 🍃) describes herself as a “keeper of the discarded,” working with memory, mourning, and the natural world.

In “Childhood Memories,” she hand-carves the rug from her mother’s bedroom directly into discarded oak flooring. From a distance, the work appears soft: tassels fall in different directions, the edges ripple, and one corner seems to fold upward. Look closer, and the illusion gives way. Everything has been carved directly into the wood.

For Aparicio, the process was as significant as the image itself. She describes carving the floor as “a gesture of literal and psychological excavation,” translating emotional rupture into material labor. Working on her knees, she deliberately left the marks of her chisel visible — traces of the physical process through which she says she was able to metabolize memories she had long carried.

The original rug had been a witness to both her mother’s life and her own. Rugs ordinarily cover what lies beneath them; Aparicio reverses that relationship. Here, the rug cannot be lifted or removed. Memory becomes embedded in the architecture itself.

We are surrounded by sound, but how often are we actually listening?

Across listening rooms, sound meditations, and communal listening sessions, artists are creating spaces where sound moves from the background to the foreground. Phones are put away. Bodies settle. Conversation stops. Listening becomes the practice.

The form may feel contemporary, but the impulse is ancient. Humans have long gathered around sound – as ritual, meditation, communication, and a way of dropping into a different frequency of relationship with ourselves and with one another. Perhaps what we’re witnessing isn’t the invention of a new kind of gathering, but a renewed desire to listen with our full attention.
