I didn’t expect the NBA playoffs to become a parenting lesson, but here we are.

Watching with my boys this year reminded me how much kids learn from team sports beyond the score.

Five things I noticed:

1. Leadership is not always loud.

2. Talent matters, but teamwork matters too.

3. Development takes time.

4. Greatness does not have to look one way.

5. Vulnerability is strength.

As a mom of boys, I’m fully sold on team sports for our kids. 🏀

Choosing yourself has a cost sometimes, especially if people were used to you choosing their comfort first🙃. I’ve been learning that disappointment doesn’t always mean I’ve done something wrong. Sometimes it means I’m finally honoring what I need.🤎

Part 2 because so many of you asked what ingredients to look out for.

Consumer Reports found certain snack foods contained additives like titanium dioxide, BHA, BHT, and glyceryl esters, ingredients that have raised safety concerns and are restricted or banned in some places outside the U.S.

This isn’t fear or perfection. It’s about transparency, stronger food safety standards, and making sure families do not need a chemistry degree to choose snacks for their children.

Safer food should not depend on how much time, money, or information you have.

Save this for your next grocery run and send it to someone who buys snacks for kids.

A new investigation looked at popular snacks and drinks and found concerning levels of certain additives and contaminants in some products — including some marketed to children.

This isn’t about fear or guilt.
And this is definitely not about telling families to throw everything away.

One snack is not the issue.

The bigger issue is that families should not need a chemistry degree to grocery shop safely.

Progress, not perfection:
read labels when you can, rotate snacks, and aim for less processed options more often.

But the real responsibility belongs with stronger food safety protections — because safer food should not depend on how much time, money, or nutrition knowledge a family has.

Medical mistrust isn’t the problem.

Institutional untrustworthiness is.

In my new op-ed, I examine what connects a decades-old government-sponsored vaccine study from the *1960s* involving Black infants and to the current lawsuit against Find A Black Doctor directory: the ongoing consequences of institutions failing to earn trust.

“Connecting Black patients to Black doctors is about survival, not discrimination.”

Public-facing thriving. Private-facing recovering. 😭

If I owe you a text, email, call, voice note, or life update… I’m reaching out soon. Maybe. Slowly.

An apology is not the same as repair.

I spoke with ’s last week about Pope Leo’s apology for the Catholic Church’s role in slavery, and why acknowledgment matters, but accountability must follow. Link to audio in bio.
