Most days, you are like a sponge. Soaking in thoughts, emotions, events, plans etc and holding onto them within you.

The question is, how often do you wring it out?

This time of year can be exceptionally full as the seasons change, school is ending, and summer beckons us out into vacation planning, gatherings, graduation parties, etc. The emotions that come along with all of that can be a lot.

This practice will help wring out the stuff that’s overwhelming and create space for you and what you need.

💛Notice how you feel before you start.
💛Do 6-9 in each direction, or more if your body is asking for it.
💛Allow the energy to fill your lower body at the end, soothing the areas you cleared out.
💛Notice how you feel at the end.

Come back to it anytime you need.

We’ll be working with worry in qigong class this Thursday, 6/11/26 at Grace Wellness at at 7 pm if you’re interested in joining us. You’ll be supported in community without judgement no matter what your transition or worry is.

Sometimes all you need is a moment to move with intention to restore clarity and peace.

This qigong form is called Wise Owl Looks Back. It helps release thoughts, worry, and excessive energy that has risen up to your mind and restores your ability to think clearly, feel grounded, and move forward.

Try it out and see for yourself. Perform 3-9 repetitions to each side.

Some say that people come into your life for a reason. I believe this to be true.

These are the people that leave a mark or ignite something in your soul that changes you and inspires you to grow in the direction of your becoming. You know who they are, they feel different to you in some way. And when it’s time for you to move on or them to leave, it hurts.

Change is hard. It might be one of the hardest things you do as a human, and yet, it is happening all the time.

As you move through this last bit of Spring, a season of change in the form of becoming, it’s okay to honor and feel the emotions that come along with change, sadness, grief, anger, fear, worry. They’re all normal, even when the change is for the good.

Take a breath, and another. Feel your feet on the ground, the sun on your face, and how the air creates space for the emotions to flow. Allow the warmth of your heart felt memories to expand into any places you need support as you do. And remember these people, these experiences that you want to take with you will be with you as long as you need them too.

Take all the time you need to take care of You.

Did you know that your heart’s energy field extends out 3 feet from your body and it is the strongest of all of your organs including your brain?! This means you can feel and absorb the energy of others and vice versa from 3 feet away.

In Chinese medicine, it is believed that your heart is where your soul or sovereign self lives and it needs space. Space to breathe, to process all that comes in and that you send out, to know what is yours to do, and to simply be.

As we transition into Summer, the season of the heart and being out in the world in relationship with one another, now is a great time to practice forms like this one.

Simple forms to create space, clear your energy field, reduce stress and tension, release other people’s energy, and that give you a moment’s peace.

Simple forms that you can do anywhere, any time your heart needs a break.

Try it out and let me know how it goes.

You don’t have to carry it all. I bet a good bit of it isn’t even yours. And some of what you’re carrying isn’t serving you anymore.

Spring is a great time to lay some of the “stuff” down. As you clean out your closets to get ready for summer, set the intention to allow some of the habits, patterns, stories, emotions that are weighing you down and are ready to be released float to the surface for you to examine just as you would a shirt from last season. Take some time with each “shirt”. Notice how they feel and ask yourself,

💚Is this mine?
💚Does this habit/pattern still fit or help me be my best self?
💚Is this story I’ve been told or tell myself true?

If the answers are no, you can bless and release them, thanking them for all of the ways they’ve helped you in the past, using the steps in the post as a guide,

💚Pausing with the “shirt”, taking a breath bringing in what you need, breathing out releasing the “shirt” from your being, noticing how you feel in the next few moments, and then stepping forward.

Other therapeutic ways to do this are journaling, movement, breathwork, and qigong. Taking a moment after to notice how you feel.

If what rises to the surface feels really heavy, you can always ask for help from a practitioner to work through the process. If this is you, I am here to help. Links to my 1:1 sessions are in my bio.

Remember you don’t have to carry it all with you. And you don’t have to carry it alone.

Stay here as long as you need. Take your time getting back into your day and ask for peace, or whatever you’ve created for yourself, to stay with you.

Can’t get outside, you can sit or lay in your chair and use this as a visualization or choose another activity that helps you get back to being you.

If you are feeling stressed, not enough, off center, anxious, or maybe even a little overwhelmed, I’d like to invite you to a place where you can find respite. A safe, sacred space for you to rest back into yourself and find your way back to peace, despite all that is happening around you. That place is Qigong class.

Qigong is like a gentle hug for your nervous system. It’s a gentle movement practice that is an essential part of self care in Chinese Medicine, designed to help you connect to your foundation and energetic support system, listen to the messages of your body, release tension and stress, replenish your energy, and build your vitality and well being.

In each class, you’ll be offered a safe, supportive space to be present with yourself, move with and through whatever you’re working with, and do so in community with others.

This Thursday May 21st at 7 pm, I’ll be starting a 7 week series called Getting to Know Your Emotions. Each week you’ll learn about your emotions, how they show up in your body, and how to work with them in a healthy way. You can join for all 7 weeks or drop in and try a class.
