When estrogen drops, a few important things happen. Estrogen helps protect insulin sensitivity. When it drops, your body becomes more insulin resistant, your blood sugar becomes less stable, and your stress response becomes harder to recover from.
And here's the piece that most women don't know: when your body is under chronic stress, your cortisol goes up. Elevated cortisol actively suppresses estrogen and progesterone. So the hormones you already have less of get pushed down even further.
This is why the woman who says 'I used to handle stress just fine, but now everything feels so much harder' is telling the absolute truth. Her body changed. Her hormones changed. And nobody explained it to her.
So what can you do? The nervous system comes first. Before anything else, we work on regulating that stress response. Breathwork. Time in nature. Sleep. Nourishment. Community. These aren't soft suggestions. They are the foundation of hormonal health in midlife.
If you've been told your labs are normal but you know something is off, I see you. The connection between stress and your hormones is real, and it is profound. If this resonates with you, I would love to connect! This is exactly the kind of work we do together in my Realignment Package.
