When pregnancy is not happening as expected, the focus often falls entirely on the female partner.

But fertility concerns may involve female factors, male factors, a combination of both or causes that are not immediately clear.

That is why a complete evaluation may include testing for both partners. Looking at the full picture can help your care team recommend a more informed and personalized path forward.

There is no blame in fertility care. There are questions, answers and options.

Some days, faith feels strong.

Other days, it feels like the smallest whisper.

It may look like scheduling the appointment.
Taking the medication.
Showing up for another ultrasound.
Letting yourself cry in the car.
Choosing to believe that your story is still unfolding, even when you do not know how it ends.

On the fertility journey, hope does not always feel loud or certain. Sometimes, hope is simply getting through today.

And that is enough.

Wherever you are in your journey, FIRM is here with compassionate fertility care, thoughtful guidance and a team that understands how personal this path can be.

Waiting can be one of the hardest parts of the fertility journey.

Waiting for a period.
Waiting for test results.
Waiting for a call.
Waiting for the next appointment.
Waiting to feel hopeful again.

And sometimes, the hardest part is watching the world move forward while you feel like your life is paused.

To anyone in a waiting season right now, your feelings are valid. The hope, the fear, the frustration, the quiet prayers and the moments when you wonder if you can keep going.

You are not weak for feeling tired.
You are not alone because this feels hard.
You are still moving forward, even when progress feels slow.

We are here to help you take the next step with care, clarity and compassion.

Embryo screening can be an important part of the IVF conversation for some patients.

Why? Because not all embryos have the same chromosomal makeup, and chromosomal abnormalities can become more common with age. FIRM’s page explains that embryo screening may offer hope for improving IVF pregnancy rates and decreasing miscarriage rates.

For certain patients, embryo screening may help:
• Identify chromosomally normal embryos
• Support single embryo transfer conversations
• Reduce the risk of transferring embryos affected by certain genetic conditions
• Provide more information during the IVF process
• Help patients and physicians make more informed decisions

Every fertility journey is different. Your physician can help you understand whether embryo screening is recommended based on your medical history, age, diagnosis and goals.

If you are considering IVF, you may hear terms like PGS and PGD.

So, what do they mean?

PGS, or preembryo genetic screening, looks at the chromosomes of an embryo. It may be considered for patients of advanced maternal age, patients with prior IVF challenges or those with a history of miscarriage.

PGD, or preimplantation genetic diagnosis, is used when there is a known genetic condition or chromosomal rearrangement. This may include inherited conditions such as cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease or Tay-Sachs disease.

Both are tools that may help your physician learn more before embryo transfer. They do not guarantee a baby, but they can help guide decision-making during treatment.

During IVF, some patients may have the option to genetically screen embryos before transfer.

This is often called preimplantation genetic testing, and it helps provide information about the genetic health or chromosomal makeup of an embryo before it is selected for transfer.

For some patients, embryo screening may be recommended because of age-related fertility concerns, a history of miscarriage, known inherited genetic conditions or chromosomal rearrangements.

The goal is to help your care team make more informed decisions during the IVF process. While genetic testing can provide helpful information, it cannot guarantee pregnancy or eliminate every risk.

Our team helps patients understand their options with clarity, compassion and personalized care.
