For four weeks this past spring, Arianna DeBoer traded her classroom for a clinic in Qaladarabad, Pakistan.

Through MAP's Healthcare Fellowship Program, she gave 120 hours to caring for nearly 200 people, many of whom live far from the nearest hospital. She saw long-term conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, as well as infectious diseases that rarely appear where she studies, often because vaccines and affordable medicine are simply out of reach in this area of the world.

Where care is hard to find, fellows like Arianna help extend it.

Ugo is only 58, but years of farming cassava under the Nigerian sun had taken a toll on her joints, leaving her with painful osteoarthritis. The pain reliever she could find locally never worked.

Then a medical mission team provided genuine over-the-counter pain reliever from MAP, finally providing the relief she needed. Now she wakes up strong and pain-free.

MAP's Board of Directors met at our Brunswick headquarters this week, and part of their time together was spent packing Disaster Health Kits.

When a hurricane, flood, or earthquake hits, families often lose access to basic hygiene supplies right when they need them most. These kits help fill that gap in the days and weeks after a disaster, giving people what they need to stay clean and healthy while they begin to recover.

Our Board of Directors provides strategic guidance for MAP's work throughout the year, and we were grateful to welcome them to our distribution center to take part in that work firsthand.
