Hills Dr. Walton will die on:

🌸Birth control prescriptions for heavy painful periods should always come with a Pelvic PT referral.
- PFPT helps address symptoms like muscle tightness and restrictions in the pelvic floor/abdomen/back, teaching self-management techniques throughout the cycle, and incorporate nutrition and exercise for further relief

🌸Hormones matter and impact every single body system.
- Women’s hormones fluctuate daily but change significantly during pregnancy and perimenopause/menopause. These changes manifest physically and affect our overall health.
- PS: vaginal estrogen cream should be standard during perimenopause to improve skin quality and reduce risk of UTIs

🌸Postpartum Physical Therapy should be standard of care.
-You created life and carried it for months! Now, you’re expected to recover while taking care of a new human being. Then, you have ONE follow-up appointment and are told “You’re cleared.” Mothers deserve better attention, direction, and assistance to be proactive in recovery.

🌸Your body is all connected-- from your foot, pelvis, and back to your breathing, stress, and sleep patterns.
- You deserve a provider who looks at the whole picture, acknowledges your symptoms can be connected, and treats root causes.
- Not all pelvic floor PTs are created equal ... and without advanced training, the bigger picture can be missed

🌸Kegels are circa late 1940s
- A one size fits all approach is outdated. Your care should be individualized and include hands on techniques, exercises, and education!
- PFM length, strength, and coordination must work together in ALL positions. Tight DOES NOT equal strong

Hills Dr. Davenport will die on:

💥Jaw dysfunction and pelvic floor dysfunction are not a coincidence!
*We hold tension in two sets of cheeks: our butt cheeks and face cheeks.
*Follow along for more education on these two specialties.

💥Physical therapy should NOT be just exercises.
*PT should include patient education, hands-on techniques, LISTENING, daily lifestyle modifications, nutrition modifications, and so much more!

💥Pain is COMMON NOT NORMAL! No matter what your age.
*Sure… soreness is to be expected when you push your body to try new things, but pain is a signal that something is “off”.
*And did you know that sometimes that signal that something is “off” is a response from your nervous system?

💥Pain medication prescriptions should ALWAYS come with a physical therapy prescription. Or ask for a second opinion…
*We wait to see our doctor who might say “Try these meds and rest, and we’ll see you in 6 weeks.”
*Why are we not actively rehabbing while waiting?!?!?

💥Whoever says “This is THE answer to fix (insert complaint here)” has tunnel vision 🫢 There is not one size fits all to any pain complaints!
*Pain is so complex, and rarely is there ONE cure-all for your pain. This requires a multidisciplinary approach especially with the chronic cases–pain lasting longer than 3 months.

REXAB Recap!!!!

We had an incredible time at the recent REXAB event alongside a fantastic group of vendors! 🚴‍♂️✨🧘🏻‍♀️

It was a privilege to connect with fellow professionals in the health, fitness, and rehabilitation community while sharing our passion for helping individuals move better, recover stronger, and perform at their highest level. Events like these truly highlight the power of collaboration in advancing patient care and wellness.
