I waited all summer for this: All 3 of my sons were available so we could finally go on a family hike on Labor Day.
We did my favorite local hike at the Niagara Gorge trail with > 350 stairs, a path along Niagara river leading to mesmerizing rapids (my happy place, especially when Iām with my whole family).
About 1 1/2 miles in my left sandal strap broke and would not stay on my foot.
My family asked if I wanted to turn around. I was like NO WAY WEāRE DOING THIS, Iāve been waiting all year for this!
So I hiked about 2 1/2 miles with one shoe.
We were laughing that Iāve been training for this for years because Iāve been wearing barefoot shoes & training my feet so support me with biomechanics based exercises.
And it wasnāt that bad. My foot got jabbed by some rocks now and then but it was actually a fun challenge.
If thereās no way you would hike barefoot always have duct tape on you because weāve had our share of shoe incidents in our years of hiking.
If I can hike without a shoe on my left foot & a barefoot sandal on my right foot, then you can train your feet to support you too.
If youāre ready to get help message me FEET.
