Typically, the quarterdeck serves as the part of the upper deck of a ship reserved for officers. Navy, this area is reserved for official ceremonies and as the station of the officer of the deck in port. Throughout history, the quarterdeck has been used to carry out exercise and – sometimes – punishments. At Quarter Deck Athletics, home of CrossFit QDA, we are gratefu

l for the opportunities afforded to us and the sacrifices that have been made to allow us the freedoms we so enjoy. With multiple family members serving in various branches of the armed forces, a military lifestyle is something with which we grew up and has become an integral part of our lives. We honor fallen soldiers regularly through special “hero workouts,” and we will be working closely with veterans as a part of our community outreach and charitable work. It is not something we take lightly. It comes with the utmost respect, sincerity, and appreciation. Here at QDA, everyone is equal. We are all equally important and equally treated with equal expectations. And that expectation is simple: Effort. That is it. Success is a simple formula: Your best effort, consistently performed, over many days. Progress happens every single day but in small amounts. It is the aggregation of marginal gains, day in and day out. QDA is the only gym in downtown Buffalo, offering CrossFit, chiropractic, and nutrition services for all ages and abilities, and, as such, we are able to measure effort like no other fitness facility or gym. Our fitness and medical backgrounds allow us to offer safe, effective, and intense workouts that can be scaled for all skill levels. As such, we have worked with all populations – from children to retirees, professional athletes to cancer patients, as well as those with joint replacements, and hip and shoulder problems. We have seen it all. Whether you want to be able to perform everyday movements pain-free, such as walking or getting out of a chair, or you’d like to lose weight and/or build muscle, we can tailor every workout to fit your needs to keep you healthy and progressing towards your goals. Let’s take a step back and look inside. I’m just as guilty as anyone else when it comes to justifying my actions or emotions…

A good example is getting mad at other drivers around us whether they are speeding, going too slow, changing lanes without signals, too close to you, swerving in lanes, etc but when we do it there’s a justification.

Why are you feeling that way? Why are you upset about what you didn’t get? Why are you upset about not being included? Why are you upset about someone else’s success? Why are you upset about anything?

We are all on different chapters of different books with different numbers of pages…

You do not know enough about anyone else to make assumptions.

Most people are doing their best to get through life. I’m not saying that to justify anyone’s behavior.

What I will say is this. You are the only one who knows the truth about your effort, intentions, desires, and consistency. Even if you are lying to yourself about it you still know what the truth is…

You want something you aren’t getting? Ask. Speak up. Put it into the universe.

When you put it out there make sure your s**t is in check because not everyone else will lie to you the same way you lie to yourself…

The truth is not always pleasant. It is necessary.

Congrats to Robert Matthew Karp Jim Nuwer and Kris for their performance at SFC.

I think it’s very fitting that in this picture you guys are under Jake.

He is always missed and I will never not think of him when watching Deadpool or going to Jim’s Steakout.

It has been awesome to see the continued progress of you three fine young gentlemen! Rob you have been crushing it trying to keep lifting heavier and crushing Hyrox. Kris, you have made phenomenal progress over the past 6 months in your work on your barbell and gymnastics. Jim, as much as we joke I appreciate your continued resilience and effort, what day is it?

That is the secret, keep showing up, keep putting out!!!

We would officially like to welcome to the coaching staff at QDA!

Jimmy has been a long standing member at QDA that has always gone out of his way to greet new people, cheer on those around him, and give advice where he had previously struggled and made progress in CrossFit!

He has been working on finding his coaching voice and style and has been making great strides.

He will be filling in at 900 the rest of the week while some coaches are going to be away at .master

He might be on your back about form, technique, or counting but he will be cheering you on the entire way!

PNOE tests are ready to go!

The metabolic test and the VO2 test are both ready for you!

You have three options to get your tests.

$200 each
$350 to purchase both together
Pay for the year of tests (4 of each through the year) $1100

Why are they so expensive?

Each test takes about 30 minutes to complete and comes with a multiple page printout that will give you incomparable insight into your body.

Depending on your test or if you get both you will have the most accurate data of calories burned daily, metabolic age, VO2 max, REAL heart rate zones, what fuel sources you burn at what heart rates, lung efficiency, breathing efficiency, what type of training you need more of, etc…

They are packed with extremely valuable information.

A little action from Murph today at QDA.

Shout out to .caso_ and everyone who helped clean up for helping everything going off so smoothly!!!

Murph is one of those workouts that I believe to be a perfect balance of skill and will.

It’s going to hurt, how bad do you want it.

I also think it’s a perfect workout to have on Memorial Day and remembering all of the fallen.

I appreciate everyone who came out and crushed it!! Unfortunately I can only make a reel with 35 photos so not everyone is in the shots, sorry everyone.
