Hello šš¾ I treat dry eye for a living, and I promise you donāt need another bottle of artificial tears to actually fix whatās going on.
If we havenāt met, Iām Dr. Neal, an ophthalmologist who specializes in dry eye treatment, so my patients can stop managing symptoms and start getting real relief. I share the kind of honest eye care education your last appointment probably skipped.
Artificial tears arenāt a solution. Theyāre a band-aid, but most dry eye is caused by something specific, and until the root causes are addressed, youāll be reaching for that bottle forever.
Hereās what actually matters:
1. Your meibomian glands, the oil glands in your eyelids, are likely clogged, which means your tears evaporate too fast and dry out. Donāt fix that. As we prepare for the winter, you want to make sure that youāre doing warm compresses and lid massage daily. This should help improve the flow of your meibomian glands.
2. You want to get in the habit of doing blink exercises. Thatās where you do a series of blinking every 20 minutes. If you want to know how to do them properly and get a video, comment āblink exercisesā and I will send you a video.
Also, I donāt have many chats yet, so if you donāt get it right away, donāt think you wonāt, because I have to do this manually. Still learning this Instagram thing.
